Gph Clearing The Facts

NAND shouldn't be thought of as 'another place to stash stuff', its really a more 'precious' storage mechanism than other media, because it does, in fact, wear out.  you want to write to it as little as possible.  its not like 'flash-ram', which you can burn and read as much as you like, NAND will eventually fail.
NAND is exactly like flash ram, because that is what it is. NAND is the very same stuff as inside your sd cards, and yes it will eventually wear out (but not for many, many years with average use) but so will your sd cards.

ehhh.. Certain types wear out faster than others, like on PDAs the nonvolatile storage isn't really meant to be written to. There is flash memory thats designed to be written to over and over and stuff that is designed to be written to a few hundreds times. People, be smart, and use the SD card to store stuff. Even the least expensive ones are alot bigger than what NAND has to offer. Put your wear and tear on an accessory that can be replaced, rather than on the unit itself.

Oh nice summary, thanks for getting that topic back on top, very interesting and it looks like the hardware faults are no real ones but more firmware problems.

SD 2GB problem will be fixed soon eh? I hope so...
