hello, i have read pandora needs pnd files to load games.
my question is to know how to do to have these pnd games? is it easy to do it?

i have read this topic http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?/topic/55366-selling-my-new-pandora/
The reason i am selling the pandora is the lack of time on my part to get things working ,i want/need a device that is simply set up and ready to use

i'm a little bit like him
so i wonder how have the pnd files and run them.

thanks

Just download them from one of these places:
http://apps.open-pandora.org/
http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/pandora.cgi

As a user you don't need to worry about converting anything, just download what you want, and ask if something isn't available.

However there are limits to what can and cannot be converted.
For something to be possible to run on the Pandora, it must be open source, and ideally it should be for Linux.

Also, at the moment there are only so many devs who actually have Pandoras, so there isn't much activity yet.
By the time you'd get a Pandora (in the second batch) I'd imagine there'd be a lot more stuff available.

See the FAQ for more info, if you haven't already: http://pandorawiki.org/FAQ

i have a lot of games (amstrad, snes, neogeo etc...), so if they are not in these download pages i can't run them?

^ You don't have to package ROMs into PNDs. You just install the emulator and put the ROMs on your SD Card in the right folder.

aaaaaaah ok!!!

so i don't understand the sentence i have pasted in quote.
what's the matter?

^ You should ask Paddy down there in the Martketplace thread. I don't know what he is talking about.

Maybe he's complaining about having to install ROM's by hand and fiddle around a bit with most of the emulators .. this *is* a bit fiddly.

But other apps besides emulators are very easy to administer and maintain .. just download the PND to the right place, and you're done. It will all get easier as we get repo's and feeds online, though ..

It's fiddly because the devs are more concerned about making it run well than polishing up the interface. (Especially since that's more fun :p )
If this hasn't changed by the time I get my Pandora, I'm gonna see if make some zenity scripts to make them easier to use.
