I've tried the gp2x wiki but unfortunately the information there isn't very helpful on this. I bought a self-powered ext-usb cable (from http://www.artaylor.co.uk/gp2x/). I tried turning on usbhost/usb storage in the settingsbecause I want it to access a usb pendrive but I'm not sure it it's recognising it, and I can't access it. I bought my gp2x about a month ago and it has firmware v3.0. Am I doing anything wrong?

If 3.0 is the same in that area as the other firmwares (2.0, 2.1, 2.1.1), then you need to press the correct key to save your settings on exit.

Turn Menu Extension on,

Then turn USB host to Always On,

Then enable Storage to On.

Then you must Press the B button to save your settings.

Finally reboot with the device attached.

Access by going to Games/Video/Music/Photos/Utitlity/E-books and choosing EXT and then the folder that appears. If you have more than one USB storage attached they all mount in the EXT menu as different folders.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that but it still didn't work. The cables okay because I can connect to a digital camera, but it won't even see the pendrive. Maybe it needs too much current?

most likely, yeah.
but it could also be that it is formatted to a unsupported file format, ntfs or something.
