Gigas engine
Zot
Fenix
Virtual Novel System
BOR

I heard something about internet capabilities.
Unfortunately, the Gp32 can not surf the web. I don't think I need to explain it any further.

What would you recommend me getting? The Gp32 flu is $10 cheaper what to do?I and many other people recommend the Gp32 Blu. You can see much more clearly, in the sun, it may not be as effective, but nontheless, its still a much better choice.

What size memory could it hold?
The Gp32 can hold any 128mb or lower smartmedia card, 3.3v

What about overclocking.
All Gp32's can clock to 133mhz, but many do overclock even higher, even as high as 220mhz. Well whats the difference? Just speed. Does this waste a significant amount of battery time? Yes, but very little. The only way your garaunteed to get a 166mhz or a 180mhz is purchasing your Gp32 at gbax.com. If you have one and want to upgrade yours, http://console-fix.co.uk

How do I overclock?
The program ussually gives you an option to oc how high you want, like opensnes or fgen32.

How do I know how high I can overclock?
Programs like clockspeedtest gives you an idea of how high you can overclock. Try opensnes and set the speed to 166mhz. If you last 10-15 minutes on it, your good at 166mhz. If it freezes instantly, or freezes in a few minutes, you can't overclock that high.

So what do I do first?
First you need to format your SmartMedia card, from you gplink program on your pc, go to file-->format. Then just install your programs.

There are so many folders, what to do?
There are 6 folders, I only use 1 folder though. The directory GPMM:// is the one you mainly use, you install all your games and such there. The instructions in the program will tell you if you need to use other folders.

Is it easy to install programs?
Its rediculously easy, all you need to do is copy the files you want, then paste it into the folder you want, .zpk files are installed differently however.

How do I install .zpk files?
Installing .zpk files is actually quite easy. All you need to do it go to your Gplink program then go to file-->install, then fine the .zpk file and install it. As easy as that.

Battery life
The battery life is great, it lasts around 5 hours with a Gp32 Blu with the light on.
For a Flu its about 5-7 hours with the light on, and for a nonflu its around 12 hours.

What are some good file launchers?
Yafl, My favorite
Windups, similar to windows
Pacrom

What maximum size for backgrounds?
The pictures can be no larger than 320*240.

What are chatboards?
Chatboards is a keyboard accessory for the Gp32. A few programs are compatible with it, hopefully many will be in later years.

List of programs that have chatboard support
GpQuake
Sarien
Bobtron
Castaway
Speccyal K
Atari 800 v0.5
Kronos
Gplinux
Edgepad
Frotz

Upcoming ones
Windups
Yafl
Doom

What are Rf-links?
Rf-links is a gp32 accessory to link up to 4 people wirelessly. Some emulators are supported, gpengine allows 2 and a few of rylehs emulators work as well, they do have glitches though..

I want to dev, is it really easy?
Developing for the Gp32 is easy, or so thats what people say. If your looking to develop, this is one of the easier handhelds to develop for. C++ and C no VB.

Getting started:
http://gp32eu.com/dev.php

What are some pros and cons?
Pros
Large homebrewn scene
Emulates most classic systems well
Large and hi resolution screen
Good price for what your getting
Mp3 & Video Player
Nice battery life

Cons
Low amount of commercial games
Bit bulky
Maximum amount 128mb and only SmartMedia cards
Very difficult if no Internet connection

What are all the accessories I need?
Gp32
Usb Cable, (comes with the Gp32)
SmartMedia Card
2 AA batteries

What are extra accessories?
Chatboard
Rf-link
Card reader/writer
Carry Case
Glass screen, gp32z.com

Where can I buy a gp32?
If you live in the U.S. or Canada, try gp32z.com, recommended
Well if you live in the UK I would say gbax.com or lik-sang.com

Where do I purchase games?
At the moment, you will rarely find any games being sold onto SmartMedia cards, lik-sang.com carries a few, but other than that, you won't find any new ones.
You can always purchase downloaded games at www.entware.com

I would be nice also to mention OggVorbis in addition to mp3, because compared to mp3 you can get more music with better quality on the same SMC space.

Greetings,
SvOlli

I would have approved it this morning if you'd waited :/ Nm, pinning this one. It's better than mine that's for sure ;)

Add PANG to the 'ports' section please, or does it qualify as a remake?

And when you say pictures, do you mean the avi picture or the jpeg pics.
Cuz jpeg pics can go up much highter then 320x240

I slowly realised how much of a plug this is. I'm not sure it's a good idea to have an advertisement as a newbie's primary source of info. Remember the crap with GBAX's "review" which said the GP32 could run GBA back when it was about 5 games at 2 fps? That said, it's still well written and perhaps the best singular source of info, just maybe think about linking gbax and lik-sang as well as gp32z ;)

I gotta hand it to him though

putting recommended next to his GP32z.com thing is cunning

magazines for GP32

DLWD
or
GPM
or
GP32Zine
or
Pintsized, recofuckingmended

Great FAQ, thanks for it. It's great for a newbie like me, I don't even have the machine yet and im drooling for it already :)

I give this FAQ 8,5/10

He does that all the time and its godamn annoying hearing "oh that game can only be fully enjoyed with a chatboard, come to GP32z to buy 10!!!!"

Also, Pintsized is kinda crap but thats just from the first issue which was short. No offence.
