Hopefully newer boards, possibly batch 2 (hope so ) will have the wire impedance changed on the board so the resistor is not needed, that would be ideal. Maybe because there is a resistor above the board surface acting like an antenna itself that people have reported different speed rates/packet loss. I mean, if you're under a powerline, this could potentially be a problem but this is a really quick guess - I haven't simulated anything or done any math .
EDIT: I should mention, on my Nintendo DS I only ever get 6KBps. Tho it's possible there's a problem with my DS. And people are complaining about 30KBps rates? Ugh! (no it is a problem, i'd be annoyed too)
