I installed the aurora2.0 skin on my brand new gp2x with the latest firmware.
After reboot I realized that the icons where the same, I had the aurora2.0 background,
but the original icons. Because this didn't look good, I wanted to go back to the
default skin. I downloaded the default skin "DefaultSkin140b" and installed it. No
luck, nothing changed.

Then I realized that .gpu files are indeed shell scripts. I thought that it should be
possible to remove aurora2.0 and go back to the default skin by executing the
following lines:

Code:
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgbattery/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgcommon/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgebook/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgexplorer/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imggame/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgimage/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imglcd/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgmain/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgmovie/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgmusic/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgsetting/*

cp -f /mnt/sd/Utilities/DefaultSkin140b/Default/imgebook/*.* /usr/gp2x/imgebook

cd /usr/gp2x
./gp2xmenu

So I made a shell script, named it "oldskin.gpu" and placed it into /mnt/sd/Utilities:

Code:
#/bin/sh
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgbattery/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgcommon/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgebook/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgexplorer/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imggame/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgimage/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imglcd/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgmain/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgmovie/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgmusic/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgsetting/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgtestmode/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgtvout/*
rm -rf /usr/gp2x/imgutil/*
cp -f /mnt/sd/Utilities/DefaultSkin140b/Default/imgbattery/*.* /usr/gp2x/imgbattery
cp -f /mnt/sd/Utilities/DefaultSkin140b/Default/imgcommon/*.* /usr/gp2x/imgcommon

./gp2xmenu

I executed this script and now I do not see icons at all!!!
The background is back to normal, but there are no icons, I just see the background,
nothing else!

I am, however, able to connect the gp2x to the pc because I remember that clicking 3
times right and 1 time down takes me to "Settings". Now I have to click 2 times right
to reach USB-connect, now I have to press b to etablish the connection.

My gp2x is useless in it's current state, please help me!

What can I do to get the icons back?

Try downloading a 2.0.0 firmware and about defaultskin140 is for firmware 1.4 either do that or just download the latest 2.1.1 firmware and reflash ure gp2x it should put everything back and put you on the newest firmware.

Hey thanks it worked!

I flashed my gp2x with the 2.0.0 firmware, then upgraded to 2.1.0 and 2.1.1. Everything back to normal

Well, I have another question..
If I play around with the gp2x linux system and mess something up (or completely break it), is it possible to restore the original system (the complete system, everything, the whole file structure and every single library, executable etc.) by just flashing the gp2x again? This would be great because then I could experiment with scripts and I would not have to be afraid to make my gp2x unusable.
