Hi gang,

Just got myself one of those cute little PSOne things from the charity shop round the corner from my house. £12, boxed with a memory card and five games. Great!

Well, I've just been through the just-got-a-PlayStation motions (ordering an LCD screen and Symphony of the Night), and now I'm thinking, what if I want to play Gradius Gaiden, or Robo-Pit, or Pepsi-Man or anything like that? I'll need to modify it. I've heard it's near impossible to do any physical mods on the PSOne, but what about a software-based mod, like on the Dreamcast? Does anyone know if any such a thing exists? A disc, that you put in your PlayStation, then play all them foreign games that the kids are into nowadays. Anyone?

There was a boot CD released for it, but I can't remember if it was real or not. They used to sell them in the market round here.

I have a modded PSone under my bed. I didn't install the chip but I opened it up and had a look. The chip was tiny and there were only 3 wires that needed to be soldered, so if you can find a chip/guide it shouldn't be too hard to do.

Having any problems with the eject button sticking yet? Shitty little thing, built for peanuts.

EDIT: Some instructions I found through google. The last link you can buy a chip from!

Well thank you very much Finty old boy!
No problems with the eject button yet, guess I've got that to look forward to. Having a bit of trouble getting used to the reset/power button, other than that I'm loving it. Skull Monkeys! What a game :D
