As a competitor, and as a voter, i think you should have avoided this.

pffft, where's your sense of humor?

don't take the compo, and especially this fake thread too seriously :D

we're already half-way into what's supposed to be the "voting week" and no news about anything.

someone HAD to make that joke :p

you'd rather have me bitch and complain ? I think there's enough of that all over the forum already.

ED's busy with stuff, that's fine.

can't we have a laugh in the meantime ?

I don't take this _too_ seriously, but maybe some competitors invested a lot of time and energy in this.

Maybe some competitors are not rich and dream of a 512M or 256M OP.

Maybe some competitors can buy one when they want, but are motivated by the challenge.

we're already half-way into what's supposed to be the "voting week" and no news about anything.
Some competitors post news, updates, responds to users, etc.

There's plenty of way to express an opinion. Especially in an open source forum.

If you're speaking about OP boards (are you ?), there's no "bitch and complain all around".

ED's busy with stuff, that's fine.
I met him: he sleep all days, and wake up only to drink coffee and play Pandora.

can't we have a laugh in the meantime ?
I'm not angry, i just expressed my opinion. Your poll actually made me smile.

Oh, c'mon, linux :)

It's a provocative joke, sure, but you can see he doesn't really mean it.

Again, i'm not angry at all.

Maybe i'm the sole competitor to see this as a bit misplaced, and i'll be happy if it's the case.

Anyway i will ruin this poll:

The good answer is the number 3.

funny how Stephane is likely one of the main competitors to Qemu with his BBQ game made from scratch....

dunno, maybe.

I was just going on the slight controvercy,

I think it would have been funny too had I put my game as the only options instead, but I figured putting qemu was funnier.

no malice intended.

btw, my reaction when qemu was announced was

"oh oh oh! well played. well played."

:D

plus it looks like it has a really nice front end ( I can't try it, but it looks nice and user-friendly. )

I hesitated for a while to do the prank or not, I'm surprised no one did it earlier and felt the occasion for a good laugh would have been lost if no one did.

Why has no-one voted for Qemu?

Nice joke, but I think a lot of people will vote for other software, too, as qemu is not the most userfriendly thing on earth. Sure, you can play Starcraft with it and other win95 software at good speed, but as Microsoft doesn't release older windows as freeware, everyone still has to build his own image, what makes it a bit complicated.

It would be so much easier, if we could provide ready images for that stuff.

So, if someone has enough time to make a good image, he can enjoy it.

A lot of time also went into testing and documenting, as the frontend and compiling were not the main problem with qemu, but to find out good ways to run the software :)

No, and you know that ;)

I suggest people should vote for what they like best :)

We did our best to make qemu as userfriendly as possible.

Being also busy i didn't search for your build flags. You used some tricks ?

And did you noticed improvements with zram if tested ?

(Sorry, Stephane, if i'm off-topic in this very, very serious thread ^^.)

Qemu is not really ram limited, so no, I didn't test zram.

For the buildflags and stuff, I will have to check that. I can pm them to you if you like.
