alright,
it seems as tho every one hate post whores so:
what about instead of "pips" for posts how about one pip per X number of helpful posts i.e.
someone is new and they are having a problem and someone writes a page (complete with smilies :p )
and explains what they need to do.
someone gives them a point (as I said X number of points = 1 pip)

maybe mods are the only one who can hand these out,
or maybe X number of posts you get one point to give a point
or maybe days (registered) say:
1 for the first 30 days
1 every week for 6 months
2 a week for a year
3 a week for 1 year and 6 months
ulimited, also unlimited for gurus and mods

what do you guys think?

There are mods for some forums for things like that where you can "applaud" a person for their posts that you deem good or "scorn" them from ones that you don't think are helpful.

Honestly, I think you can just tell who's a helpful member and who isn't just by reading their posts. No need for "pips" or karma systems or anything.

i like the idea of replacing the post count meter with a rep meter. Just make sure its limited to one rep point per hour and make sure one person cant spam another persons rep so that if you post 1 rep point on a person you cant post another rep point on the for 24 hours.

We are already looking into a user rating system, Hando tried one one already but there were problems, I think he's still looking into this type of idea though.

But we shouldn't 'rate' users on simply how much they post. The best posters here are the ones who chose their words carefully, not just spam each thread!

I agree with the rest, get rid of the pips.

I think this is pointless and could of been in the other topic, as its the exact same subject. It's like you took a reply designed for there and made an entirely different topic about it ;)

I kinda like this idea....Too bad it will never happen. Actually, why do we even have a suggestion thread if nothing gets answered to?
