Hi all, as there are no current players for the caanoo that support the c64 sid format, i was wondering if someone would be kind enough to try port Sidplay2x and Oldplay to the caanoo.

They both offer sid playback support, and oldplay also supports many more formats as well!

There are already gp2x versions available here-

Sidplay2x
http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/gp2x.cgi?0,0,0,0,6,1639

Oldplay
http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/gp2x.cgi?0,0,0,0,6,1154

I could not locate any source material, but if someone would like to give these a go then it would be much appreciated!

Thanks, Han!

PS: I have tried both these through Ginge for the caanoo already, they start but playback is stuttery and unlistenable! Also Ommpc and GMU caanoo both don't have sid support.

Hi, if anyone is interested in porting Sidplay, i found some more links containing the linux builds, plus looks like there is some source links in there as well-

http://sidplay2.sourceforge.net/
http://sidplayer.cebix.net/#download

And as mentioned above, there is a Gp2x port already available to.

Thanks, Hansel.

Just thought i would give an update on something i missed about these players.

It appears the source code for the gp2x version of Oldplay is available:)

Oldplay -

Oldplay Sourcecode -
The sourcecode to Oldplay, a player for old sound formats.

I would love to see Oldplay ported to the caanoo, as it has c64 sid support and a massive support list for lots of older music formats!!

When i tried the gp2x version of oldplay though ginge, it actually ran! The menu's etc were fine, and when i played a sid file, they actually did play but were distorted.

I hope someone can do a port of this, the source is there and as mentioned, it was very close to running normal in ginge apart from sound issues.
Hopefully a port wouldn't require to much work.

Thanks, Han.

Hi, i ported OldPlay for the dingoo a320 console last year, you can find the latest sources here: http://boards.dingoonity.org/dingux-development/oldplay/msg33728/#msg33728

I did some nice updates to the player, like add blargg's latest Game_Music_Emu library, used a faster version of UADE, wrote a new Zip file reader based on blargg's File_Extractor library, and added more plugins to the player (hively, vgmstream, ...).

But someone would have to make some changes to build a gp2x or caanoo executable, because i think i broke some stuff. Anyway just wanted to let you know ;) . And feel free to ask me any question.

I worked a bit on that, It now build for caanoo and pandora and run. I dont have more time time to spend on that.
If SO want to finish that, here is my sources. You'll need to fix the controls and do a better packaging. Have a look at Makefile.inc to setup your toolchain, input code is in src/Input.cpp. Ohh and I just started it, I dont know if it actually works ;)

EDIT : thanks gama for your valuable works, my last attempt at building that was a mere failure ;)
