When I attempt to connect a USB storage device to my newly hacked-on USB connector, I can't seem to find any /dev/sd* devices.

That's after the various USB modules and SCSI modules have been loaded.

Do I need to custom build a module as per the advice here: http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/USB_Host ?

If so, does anyone have a copy of the GP2x kernel source, the copy from the official site has an unexpected EOF every time I download it.

You don't need to load any extra modules.

The first thing to check is, have you enabled the usb functions in the Settings menu? There's a whole bunch of settings there like USB Host Enable and Mass Storage Enable. Turn on everything that looks relevant.

After that, if it still doesn't work, I think you'll have to look at your USB connector. How are you providing the +5V supply?

I've been loading the modules manually via the telnet interface.

I've got +5V as per the internal USB mod page that guy put up. Multimeter confirms it.

I have a sneaking suspicion I have a grounding problem somewhere, so I'll attempt to track that down.

Cheers..
