USB Memory instead of smc

Would it be possible to use a standard USB memory to store data with the GP32? Since they go much higher than the SMC (and read/writes faster too!) it would be great. I am refering to an USB Memory such as this: http://www.usb-pendrive.co.uk/1gb.html
 
Maybe what crazy meant to say was: USB pendrives require a powered USB host to plug into, the GP USB port is an unpowered master. That and the fact there are no drivers in the firmware.
