How could it? If they are uncompressed it doesn't have to be done during gameplay.thebluenewt posted on Aug 12 2004 at 01:10 PM said:Don't uncompress the pk4 files, iD have already said that it'll actually slow the game down.

ahh can't be arsed with d/ling the full game, only interested to have a play as a bit of tech demo to see how it runs, one level would have done me, not really interested in the playing through the whole gameDozer posted on Aug 12 2004 at 12:18 PM said:There's a 1.7 gig illegal "demo" .

Woah 8000x600?!?! Thats like a 40:3 screen ratio!

I am in the same boat here, 800x600 med is smooth but 1024x768 med is jerky when opening doors and such. Once again, stats: 1800+,512mb,64mb Gf4 Ti4200.spray posted on Aug 12 2004 at 01:35 AM said:i currently using 800x600 with all the advanced effects on, but no anti-aliasing (sp.) what the fuck is that anyway?!?
was running at 1024x768 but decided to lose some res in favour of more advanced things added in, must say i prefer it.
i'm currently running a laptop with 3.2g p4 ht, 512 ram, 128mb ati mobility 9600.
edit: originally had 8000x600, d'oh!
You got shafted - make sure you upgrade your drivers, though, that gave me an extra two resolutions of performance (1024x768 runs like 800x600 did).MegatronUK posted on Aug 12 2004 at 10:21 AM said:640x480 in medium detail or 800x600 in low detail
Dual Athlon 2600MP's (Barton 512k), 1GB PC2700, Geforce FX5600 Ultra.
It sucks how slow it runs.... but its still looks good and just as scary in 640x480.

Just tried out those tweaks for earlier in the thread - I'm still playing in 640x480, but its now high detail and much smoother! (cache set to 384mb, video mem set to 128mb)...Rico posted on Aug 12 2004 at 04:24 PM said:You got shafted - make sure you upgrade your drivers, though, that gave me an extra two resolutions of performance (1024x768 runs like 800x600 did).
Yeah, I find that, maybe you need a better graphics card to get any difference?Rico posted on Aug 12 2004 at 07:19 PM said:I find high and med to look identical, so opt for a higher resolution instead of higher detail.
