Is the wifi card and bluetooth card soldered to the motherboard or are they removable? I want to buy a mini netbook that I can remove the wifi card and bluetooth card. Thanks.

These items are not cards, but one tiny little chip that, by my understanding of it, is soldered to the motherboard.

You don't have to activate or use the WiFi or Bluetooth features if you have no use for them, so there's no concern about this part sucking up battery-life if it's not a part of your use-case.

The BT/WiFi-chip depends on a firmware blob. If you feel paranoid about them, you can just remove the firmware images from the filesystem (or blacklist the driver, that works too) and it'll stay inactive.

EDIT: The WiFi-part has an antenna that you can unplug if you want to.

If you really want to REMOVE them you could with a needle nose and some elbow grease, you'd just have to be careful not to ding anything else :p
