Hi,
Without even being powered up, the devboard uses 0,21W... so I guess the EVM is not really optimized...? Nikolaus, any idea where these 0,21W come from? (maybe the serial USB connector?)
Well, as soon as I switch the EVM on, it eats up 2,25W (which is quite a lot!)
How is this measured, and at which point?
5V connector before EVM, so I'm measuring the FULL EVM with all peripherals, not just the SoC.
Do we know if we are even using power saving features of the SoC yet? (it doesn't sound like we do, as it seems weird to me that booting needs as much power as sitting around idling).
It doesn't look like it has full idle powersaving to me too, but on load it should be close to what we'll get I guess. The problem is we don't know how much various peripherals that we don't need draw on that board..
Yes, exactly. However, if we get power saving enabled for idle state, we can assume how much those components need approximately.
However, Nikolaus mentioned there are some resistors on the EVM where you can measure the SoC power consumption directly, I'll look into that as well.
