Hi,
I do have to keep up my grumpy reputation on irc, so i tend to make things sound a lot worse than they really are, which most people there are well aware of. Out of context it sounds a lot ruder than it was meant :) And it was mostly just a bit of background ranting while messing about with the stuff. Trying to dig up the source of the problem takes a lot more time and effort than quickly writing "blah, this doesn't work" on irc.
Heh, right - Nikolaus, you don't know aTc yet. I think whenever he stops complaining, the world is bound to explode.
That's totally normal (and once you get used to it, it's actually fun ;))
One thing that comes to my mind: While I'm not a developer, I've been in contact with all different kinds of developers myself. And one thing I found out is that most of them usually don't want to hassle anyone with eMails - so if something doesn't work, many simply quit working on that.
That's why some minimum information (what branch is what, etc.) should be somewhere easy to find - then those questions won't arise.
We should try to get that all sorted out as fast as possible. The rootfs is just one part, the kernel another one. Our current Debian rootfs doesn't provide a kernel, as we had no real idea which one to use. Everyone who wants to help with testing should use the same kernel, so we need to get all of this into a Debian recipe so that the kernel automatically updates as well.
