Gp32linux And Opie :) [pda]

argh cant wait for a version with mouse support... :)
opie or something like that would be so awesome, together with a html viewer, word program and some other small softtware.
what is possible on linux if you optimize it?
what a about a onscreenkeyboard (i dont have a chatboard.. yet)

holy fucking goddamn W00T-deserving thread :D
this is so fucking goddamn incredible undescribable with words cool
seeing a nice html-viwer on linux on gp32 :D
this says it all, linux rules the world :D

i wonder why this thread is still so small,
someone should post this on the front page, this are awesome news o_O

Yes this is good news. But before releasing a 'distribution' and posting any news on the front page, we have to be able to somehow control the applications and provide some packages. We (Ingeras, Toholl and I) are working on it... So expect a lot of new applications for your gp!

Any linux guru here to help toholl?

It probably would be able to surf the web if the GP32 has some kind of cable to do so, which could be being worked on by them...

But anyways, I think you should rotate the screen somehow and make it so the joystick controls the mouse and the A and B buttons are left and right mouse and give a virtual keyboard (I think thats what X-Box Linux is like). But anyways, keep up the good work! :D

well as i saied in eralier posts
i am little busy for 3 weeks
after that expect more progress
it is possible to rotate as you wish
but have to test more because when you rotate there are 2 black borders now
left and right

for surfing see the progess of the usbnet initiative for gp32linux
hope they succeed some day, if so we can then try a wifinet

there is still a lot of work and optimisation to do
but we can already see that it can be done

now, if you know people that can help with writing kernel modules
and C++,c,asm programming knowledge
tell them :)
----------------------------------
for notice : i released a speed test video -> the speed is ok once it s loaded
but it take too much time now to load
have to optimise, recompile when i have time

expect a release when the chatboard and/or mouse driver is working

we need also help for write support for the smc !!!
if you dont have programming knowledge you can still search some documentation
:)%

i would prefer a 180° rotated screen (like in vertical) over a 90° rotated one.
a option to select would be nice in the relese.
keep up the amazing work.

Hi, this is a really cool project! But will you be including a virtual keyboard or joystick-based mouse driver for people who don't have chatboards and such ?

This is looking fine, just fine! Just a question at one of the dev's, how hard is it to compile modem-support into the kernel? Because I'd be willing to wire up my mobile to my GP32, to try 'n connect to the i-net.
