Gp32linux And Opie :) [pda]

wow, sounds like this linux stuff is really coming along. I'm gonna have to try this. Thanks for all the hard work guys!

As ingeras said Zaurus binaries are compatible with the gp32.

erfumeta, from elotrolado.net explained to me the way he do it.

First download the app. Zaurus application are compressed into .ipk files.
You can decompress like tar file.
could it be possible that with the newest 'release' of gp32linux this doesnt work anymore? i'm getting errors that certain .so files cannot be found :(

perhaps someone could post a short guide how to add own linux software to the 'x' folder :)

thanks alot!

@ linux coder

hey there! ABSOLTELY AMAZING!!!!
the latest 2 releases [ nanox and flash player]
are using a new gui , nanox

so yes , it is not compatible with zaurus and ipaq
and so is the release just before that , links.rar browser
(this one doesnt use any guy, it use the framebuffer)

but , if you use the release before that, the opie one , that one is compatible
with ipaq and zaurus binaries
( well if i remember well, you have to change some libs for ipaq, i can make a pack )

if someone is interested in making a faq / tutorial
contact excess please

==============
for the flash player
it starts there [ swf = flash files ]
#./nano-X & ./swfplayer ScreenSaver.swf
and end there
./nano-X & ./swfplayer humor.swf
this last line is uncomented already

dont forget you need the pack before thaht with nanox

seems you can play 520KB animations too
thanks to excess for his tests
www.gp32linux.com/download/flash_animations/bocka.swf

i just checked my pc version of the player
it seems it take 8MB to play a 1,3MB flash animation ... [ and that s just for the player :( ]

I kneel before you. I will check that out right now and give you feedback.

I love you. Not only literally. Physically.

[Edit]
All right, I had a look at it. Cool to see it working, but sadly it is very very slow and crashes randomly. Anyways, I wish you best for this project of yours. :)
Maybe you could remove the sound from linux+flashplayer for some performance, as it would be better to see the rest working than to have sound at this early stage. And in case you did not do that already: Change the built-in quality settings of the player to "low".

now how r we supposed to use your pack? i mean it doesn't respect the 8.3 format, i can even transfert it to my gp32, what to do? i want to see that thing in action!!

Tutorial:
1. Download http://www.gp32linux.com/download/gp32linux_nano_pkg.zip and unzip it to a folder on your HD.
2. Open up the folder called "linux" and rename "initrd.nochat" to "initrd".
3. Download every single file from http://gp32linux.gp32news.com/flash/
4. Put the file called "start" into the folder "linux" (overwriting the old one) and put all the other files into "linux/x".
5. Copy over everything onto your GP32 into GPMM and launch the "bootload-1.0.fxe".
6. Wait, turn your GP32 90° and watch the first flash film ever on a GP32 play at a choppy framerate. Do not push any buttons or move the cursor, as this might rise the possibility of a crash (at least it does for me).

Hey,
I did everything you said.
I don´t have a chatboard so I changed intrd.nochat to intrd
When I open the Bootload-10.fxe first everything looks ok.
But then it sais :

/mnt/gpmm/linux/start: ./nano-x: no such file or directory
./swfplayer: error while loading shared libaries: libnano-x.so: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directorury

I checkt if nano-x wanst on my SMC but it was.
Please HELP
I really want to c that FLASH PLAYER :D

INCREDIBLE! i got one application running but most of the others ask for a SDL lib file called "libSDL-1.2.so.0"
is there any way to 'include' .so files during boot?
a package would be great!

a general question:
how can i compile linux software for nano-x?
if i have the sources of some sofware, would it be generally possible to compile *ANY* software for nano-x ?

(you're german, right?)

well you can add in the start something like
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/mnt/gpmm/linux/ipaq
and add the libSDL in thaht dir
it should work

nanox is a light xfree server
you compile your application as for xfree
with a gcc arm cross compiler
[ that s what i did for the flash player]
as nanox is is not 100% xfree compatible, it use
nxlib that translates xfree commands in nanox commands on the fly
i am using nanox because we have a problem with kdrive right now [ mouse not working , strange]
---------
The first public release of the NXLIB Project, a companion project to Microwindows that allows X11 binaries to run unmodified using the Microwindows Nano-X server, is available from the Microwindows web site:
ftp://microwindows.censoft.com/pub/microw...lib-0.44.tar.gz
This release has been tested heavily with FLTK v1.0.11, and FLTK v1.1.3. FLTK is built using the standard X11 headers and libX11.so shared library. The NXLIB replacement for libX11.so (named libX11.so.6) is then used to run all FLTK test programs successfully without source or binary modification. This is great news since we now can use a very full-featured small footprint widget set, as well as many already-built applications in the Microwindows environment.
Although a work in progress, NXLIB also is making progress running unmodified QT and GTK+ programs. NXLIB v0.44 has been tested with QT v2.3.1, and GTK+ 1.2.10, and many of the demonstration programs are currently running.
NXLIB works by emulating only the Xlib (libX11.so) library.

as i will be busy i decided to make a 4x release

http://www.gp32linux.com/flash/noscaling/swfplayer
http://www.gp32linux.com/flash/noscaling/nosnd/swfplayer
http://www.gp32linux.com/flash/scaling/nosnd/swfplayer
http://www.gp32linux.com/flash/scaling/swfplayer

whats new : use of the new zlib [ compression ] -> more working animations
no sound version --> more working animations

scaling version -> strangely, there are fewer animations working with this version :( [ dont know if it s because of gcc or because of nano-x ]

if someone want to try with kdrive instead of nano-x ...

so
summary
use http://www.gp32linux.com/flash/noscaling/nosnd/swfplayer [ most compatible ]

or http://www.gp32linux.com/flash/scaling/nosnd/swfplayer if you want scaling

ah i forgot , the sound versions are for when the new sound driver will come out

@ingeras

thanks for the information - but actually i'm kinda confused. i do not have THAT much linux experience - when i compile a software on my webserver i just use the make command - but thats a thing i cannot do on my gp ;)

i found a ms-dos gcc arm compiler - but i have no knowledge of how to use it to produce xfree code.

could you give me an example? :)

about the german thing: i remember reading some german words in one fo the start files... was just wondering ;)
