If I buy a new GP32 and want to play commercial games, do I need to register the unit at http://english.gamepark.com/?
I have installed the USB driver only twice in the past, but to be sincere I don't know if the initial registration was needed for registering USB drivers, activating the unit or playing commercial games (that need encryption).

Please can someone tell me what the initial registration is needed for?

Oh, and I need a confirmation, as I can't test it: if I play a commercial game on my GP, then I can't use it on another unit, right? And if I change the firmware? How can I use the game on it?

I need precise infos to send to NewMediaOnline: they are going to give support to italian GP32 buyers, and they don't even know about the GP32-Internet relation

Depends what you mean in terms of commercial games.

As far as im aware if you buy the games on smart media cards from liksang et al then no registration is needed, these games can be used on any gp32 system as they are effectively the same as a megadrive cart.

if however, like most people, you plan on buying the games from entware.com then registration is required. registration will be required at both english.gamepark.com and entware.com.

and when you get a new gp (non blu) you nead to register to get the free launcher (ok there is also the irc way) you cant do much without you know :)

Ok, registration is needed to download Freelauncher, but in the case of the european GP32 (the BLU) this is useless.

Spray, are you sure about SMC games? I knew about EntWare registered software, and I thought it was the same for SMCs, but now I am not sure anymore.

The games on SMC are encrypted to SMC, so they will work on any GP32 as long as they stay on the SMC they came on. If it registered to a specific GP32 once you played it, then cracking would be much too easy. Just copy the game off the SMC before you use it in a GP32 :D

The games off JoyGP are registered to a certain GP32, and will work on any SMC, but only one GP32.

btw
you can use boxed games on evry gp but only on that smc with that they came.
you can use joygp games on evry smc but only for that gp that you buyd it for.

Is it only the non european GP32s that need to be registered?
i dont think there is any reason to register it unless you want to buy games from joygp

edit: arr rcx21000 was 1 sec faster

Ok guys, I have sent another very long e-mail to NewMedia, answering to their answers about commercial games, emulators, promising projects etc.

Do you think I can hope to receive a GP32BLU for free as a present?
