Port Requests

Good point on price.  The reason I haven't purchased it yet is I don't currently have time or need for it.

I don't drink coffee, but if I had the money I would probably spend that much on tea every week.

I don't know what the legal side of it would be, but I wonder, if for say $20 USD, an Exagear PND was made available on the repo which is configured for Pandora (GL pass through, any other tweaks/fixes to improve it), where $15 goes to Exagear and the other $5 went to a good cause (pre-order fund, prize money for competition, whatever) would it be popular/acceptable for the community? The only reason I ask is I somehow feel happier about spending $20 knowing that it is helping the Pandora/Pyra rather than spending $15 purely for the software. Other thought, I wonder if Exagear could have a bulk discount, firstly for Pandora, if 500 people wanted to use it then could they do it for half price or something, secondly, could it come as standard on the Pyra (with the value of Pyra sales maybe a better discount could be negotiated). Anyway, I guess this is off topic for here and should be in an Exagear thread, I just figured if Exagear could become a standard which people have on the Pandora/Pyra it could affect what ports are requested.

On my side, it's not about the price point. Regarding the amount of R&D to be put into this, I can understand they want to charge for it.

But I'm not ready to pay for an emulator, sorry (I am too old scool for that I guess).

This game is called "Pixel Dungeon" and was brought up as a port candidate for the Zero but the devs don't think it will be playable due to Java. I'm thinking it would run well on the Pandora though. It's open source and was written for Android but there are also builds for Windows, Linux etc. Multiplayer is currently being worked on which could be cool to be able to play Android users from our Pandas!

There is also a fork of the game called " Shattered Pixel Dungeon" which is also open source.

And finally there is a version of the original which also includes a tutorial and a planned map editor called "Your Pixel Dungeon".

Hi all :)

I know it was kind of a joke when the Pandora was yet to be released, but now, further down the road, do you think ID Tech 4 / Doom 3 could run on the Pandora ?

Cheers, Magic Sam

I have it, but it runs not fast enough to be enjoyable for now. I'm still working on it from time to time, who knows, maybe one day I'll release it...

I have a Important Request for us all ^_^

Me-TV is a very small DVT-T Viewer Software.

An very old Version is as PND out and we need a working PND of it.

Unfortunaly the older Version is not more working and i had read that realy some Pandora Users want this Software too.

https://launchpad.net/me-tv

DVB-T on the Pandora is wonderfull and worked even on the CC Pandora with 800MHZ Clocked fine ^_^

Forum Users "Joachim","Raik",others and me would be realy glad for a working Version on the Repo ;)

The older Version can be found here:

Hi !

Thanks ptitSeb :) Regarding Doom3, what would be the main bottlenecks, in your opinion ?

Cheers, Magic Sam

Seems to be CPU bounded in my current compilation. I have worked on GPU a bit already, using smaller framebuffer for rendering and simplifing the geometry on the load of a level...

From Wikipedia:

The models used in id Tech 4 engine games are animated usingskeletal animation. The engine can blend multiple animations together, to produce a skin that moves correctly for those animations. Because this is CPU intensive, id did some work optimising this by using Intel's Streaming SIMD Extensions(SSE).[16]
Easier said than done, but could NEON be used in place of Intel's SSE ?

I have started a bit, but that's a lot of work, and not sure it's enough (I use "timedemo demo1 usecache" to test and it is at 5fps at best)

Is skinning today not done via gpu vertex shaders? At leasst I saw this in shader code of s2 games k2 engine.

Thanks to Ingo for mentioning MeTV. I used it with SZ for recoeding / viewing DVB-T. I could view one station while recording another one and I could use a timer for recording. Because after SZ 1.62 or so its no more working so I stay with SZ 1.61. It would be nice if it would run in Slackware too which is my usual system and I use mplayer for recording but here I cannot watch and record TV the same time and so I must start SZ for this use. So please give us MeTV for SZ 1.71 (and hopefully Slackware).
