Right guys, Im in the middle of buying a DC, so I was just looking to know how the emulators run? Do any go full speed? How is the NeoGeo?

Haven't tried the Neo Geo cd because i don't own of the cd's
however the neo geo pocket is a little slow and without sound

Nes, sms and c64 runs great

Snes and Genesis are with sound but not full speed

You should look for Sega smash pack there are some good remakes of old known genesis games like sonic and shinobi

What state is MegaDrive Emulation in?

EDIT: Can you burn NeoGeo CD ISO's to work with the emu? Or do they have to be offical?

the free ones get better and better..
there is a illegal one which runs perfect... so.. :)

I got SegaGen, the illegal one, and it is ALMOST perfect. The sound is a little messed up on some games, creating squeaking instead of notes in the music. Speed is perfect. Its illegal because it was ripped out of "Sega Smash Pack", a dreamcast game that emulated 3 old genesis games. The free one is neat, but it is not very usable. Not full speed at all.

The illegal Genesis emulator is fantastic. Other than having an XBox, it's the best you can do for console Genesis emulation. The sound emulation isn't finished because of the shitty sound emulation the Smash Pack itself had, but the compatibility is fantastic and anything and everything that will run runs at full-speed. In fact, I think I've only ever had two or three games not work out of a full rom-set.

Yes, the genesis emulator ripped out of the Sega Smash Pack kicks some serious ass. You can get it and 450 roms on Bittorrent from "you know where" (I won't say the name since it's kind of warezy, but you know the one I mean). I still can't believe that for £20, I got basically a Genesis with like every single game ever made for it! (plus Dreamcast games, of course :p). I only have a very old version of DreamSnes (the best snes emulator) and it runs very slowly, unplayable in most games except very slow or simple ones, but a newer version might be better.
Don't forget the rest of the stuff a dreamcast can do, it can play AVIs, MPEGs and VCDs (many players, the one I use is GypPlay) and play CDs and MP3 CDs (with a program). Dreamcasts rock!

wooh got myself a dreamcast but ended up with two long story it seems pretty kick ass capcom vs snk2 its truly great and tennis 2k2 is great fun ( 4 controllers ) i just like the bright graphics on many of the games as opposed to dark moody scenes : ( and sega gen is fantastic .. thank you emule ^_^

The Neo Geo CD Emu can run ISO's at the moment but it's being worked on so you can't.

Let's not forget people that the DC also offers fantastic commercial support as well.

I've just recently forced myself into playing shenmue after owning it for years...and I highly recommend it....headhunter rocks too.

Im getting Shenmue with my DC, it is one of the main reasons im buying it.

Why do they not want you to be able to play ISO's?

There are perfect Master System and NES emulators for the DC and there is also an extremely good Gameboy Color emulator - far better than using the Gamecube GBA adapter.

It's that whole anti piracy bollocks. Its being considered by the main programmer, who admits it would be hard to implement anyway but with any luck he will leave it out and go with the suggestion as to not to advertise the fact that it can play back ups, anywhere in the readmes etc.

Shenmue is good but Shenmue 2 is miles better, in my opinion. Be sure to track down a copy as it is far bigger and has more stuff to do and the fighting stuff is a bit more integral to the thing, rather than being something you train for in Shenmue 1.

Yeah but I want to complete 1 before 2, I can get 2 as well, but its money that is the problem :) .

I read in a review that if you check the cupboards in a house you might find saturn games. Is it true?

Oh and I just got and tried that 450 Megadrive game emulator....very impressive, I've been meaning to get it for a while now.

I suggest people try sonic 3, the music bug makes the Angel island zone music sound like a cool intentional remix.
