Ok, I'm THIS close to getting a GP32, one of my main reasons is of course the emulators but also the ability to watch some movies and tv shows on the go, like the simpsons. now is it really worth getting a gp32 if one of your main reasons is for watching stuff, i mean does the quality warrant that?

I'll make it short, you can fit 2 hours of footage into an SMC, it's really smooth as the LCD blends the frames and sound is great too. In sort, -very- watchable. However I must stress that while many movies encode perfectly first time, a few you might have to mess around with to get them viewing on your GP32 perfectly.

Alright, cool, I'm willing to try a few things to get something to work, no biggie. I've encoded video with virtual dub before too, so i wont be a totall NOOB. I'm just thappy to hear it works well. :D thanks

GP32 is great for watching movies. Once you've mastered the encoding process, you'll never look back :D
Agreed...nothing beats watching Futurama/Simpsons in the office at work :D

Ok, now I'm for sure gonna get one. Not sure wether to order from play-asia or gbax. Gbax seems ot be atleast $15 more, but it says it comes with a free cd with the emulators and crap. Is that worth it? alsounlimited tech support..will I need it?

Where you choose to buy you GP32 from could be based on a number of things.

1) Where you live. If you live in the uk or europe you best bet maybe gbax as you will not incure any import tax etc.

2) Have you ever order from either of the sites you have mentioned?, Have they got a good track record with regards to ordering goods, customer service etc.?

3) The cheapest is not always the best. :(

4) Don`t let freedee`s sway you, After all you maybe paying for them anyway (hidden costs etc).

5) As for tech support, Who need that when you have access to a forum like this. :D :D :D

Just my 2p

i bought from gbax.com . the cd is nothing. its just a collection of all the emulators from this site burned onto one of those cheap crappy cds you can get for about 9 pence. (the ones with nothing on either side, so u dont know which side to place in the drive)

but i did receive it within 3 days of ordering, and i live in the uk.

but i think im the only person who cannot get my gp32 to play videos properly. i cant get virtual dub to use the settings file that is available for download. my computer hates me, and it wont let me do anything i want to do.

no problems and the subs arent that hard to read either to my surprise

nothing beats evangelion or great teacher onizuka on this baby :D

ok, thanks for the feedback. Everything sounds good, just wish some of the emus were better, but nevertheless i ordered my GP32 from GBAx...I'll get a 128 mb SMC card from circuit city here, it was more expensive from gbax....I hopw I use this thing alot, I'm starting to get buyers remorse lol, but that's normal when I drop $200 on a game system

I personally think MoviePark is great, I like to watch Spongebob and anime, along with Seinfeld, etc. I like it a lot.

Not that good ... 233 Mhz, 32ram with about 6 hours of battery. I only use it for coursework and the occasional game of Liero :)

Ok guys I am totally new to this one. I got every game system under the sun and my last aquisition was a Compaq Ipaq. I am seriously tempted by GP32 and too am wondering about the video playback quality. I will probably be buying my GP on Friday from GBAX.What software do I need to convert files to play on GP32 and what medium do I capture it from..ie DVD, VCD et. Sorry guys I am a total noob at video conversion!!

(almost)Any video file should encode into the appropriate divx4.12(what the gp32 plays) file.
