I actually explain in detail how cool and wonderful the gp32_console is, and why they should get one. A co-worker will soon be getting one, after seeing Doom running @166mhz on my BLU. :D

I tell them what it does, why its so great. Then they look at me with confusion.

So I just tell them its a gameboy. <_<

None of the options applied to me - I tell them its a Korean handheld with a simple description - "Games, MP3s, DivX Videos, Text and Image Viewing, and Emulation". If they get interested, then I explain it in full detail.

"It's a korean handheld that plays emulators, mp3s, divx movies, and also homebrew games."

if they are really confused : "its like a Gameboy but you can get games off the internet for it too, and it plays *some PC games*"

if they sort of sound clued up about games : "its a Korean handheld that can run emulators and stuff, you know so you can play Mega Drive games and stuff on the move...oh and it even plays Divx movies!"

I explain it as an indie-handheld with a great homebrew scene, most of my friends are very tech savvy so they urge me to go on.

Any type of portable games console get called a gameboy nowdays even my ngage get called a gameboy and i just say "yeah, it is kinda. but better."

I stopped trying to explain, I just say it's a gameboy, but with 10 times the processing power. That usually leaves 'm like this though:

Usually if i know someone gonna understand what im talking i'll explain in detail, but if I know their dumb shits then i just say its like a gameboy where u download the games and play mp3's on it. ;)

I usually say, "its like a gameboy but better" or "shut up I'm playing".

It pisses me off that they ask but if I explained it they wouldn't a) care or B) understand.

edit: actually I have one friend that is desperate to buy it, and probably will when he gets some money.

When people asked me what it was, I just handed it to them and let them play. Within 5 minutes of playing R-Type on GPengine, they were pulling out their credit cards in urgent eagerness.

Well not really but showing them a practical use is the best way. When they see you playing SNES games or Doom... it's impressive. I know one friend who bought a GP32 solely to play Doom, and that was before the whole 'whoops, we didn't adjust the clockspeed' thing.

Why are you bothering to type www.gp32z.com at the end of every post? That's what a signature is for :) Also you may want to link it so people can visit it easier, e.g. www.gp32z.com.

Only a select few of my friends have seen it so far but now I have everything working (splatter house and mega man x) they will see it in public.
I tell them is an amazing korean handheld, the best there is, cheap as well.
Normally say what consoles can be played on it and they get interested, blown away by movies and obsessed with pokemon and columns.
One friend said he wanted one, but he wants everything. The other 2 love the screen and the backlite.
I can't wait till columns and emulators get to version 1 so I can quit saying "its waiting to be implemented"
I would never compare this to a gameboy, there to different things and even the same for a palm top. Just like the DS shouldn't be compared to anything

I do this, but I spose i go on if they don't understand :p

I tell them that it is an open soruce retro gaming console that can run almost nehting and that they should buy one. than they say thats nice and walk away :)

i'll go with "you're interrupting my highly stimulating gaming session. make it not happen or you'll pay."

or "it's my baby!"

seriously nobody in my country ever cared when they see me playing. oh just some guys when i was at holiday i told about the system in default and got the "so it's different from nintendo?" answer. however i let them play some nes games and they went away.
