Here in the UK BBC Radio Four has just started broardcasting the NEW Tertiary Phase of The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which features the voices of all the original cast, and covers the third book "Life, the Universe, and Everything".

The BBC being the good eggs that they are, are making each episode avalible for download in high quality 5.1 surround sound, for a week after the thursday repeat, so you have till the 30th of September to get the first episode.

BBC Radio Four H2G2 Page

To actually down load the episodes, instead of steaming them you'll need something like Net Transport which lets you download streams rather than stream them. :D

Use this address http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/me...rs_episode1.ram for Real Media, and this address http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/hitchhikers/me...rs_episode1.asx for Windows Media both worked fine. If your using IE I think that Net Transport adds some options to the right click menu to do the whole downloading thing.

That just grabs the files that let you stream it, rather than the media files themselves. Thus saving those files will be great to listen to it until the BBC remove it from the net - but then it'll be useless. Net Transport saves the file those stream from. Which is nice :)

Dunno if it copes with DRM though...

Are they still going to make the Hitchhiker's film he was working on? It would be a shame if his last work wasn't used, he was a very funny man.

they have started filming a Hitchiker film, it has Matin Freeman (tim from the office) in it, and I think the black guy from Evolution is in it too

I've just done a quick check and neither the RM or the WMA file appear to be DRMed or anything anti-social like that :D just a little bit quite like most stuff off the BBC website seems to be... Both file play fine.

THIS is the official site of the hitchhikers movie, it just links to the production blog at the moment though. Which in turn links to a bunch of sites including The Unofficial Movie Site.

Not that I know of, however FooBar2000 is quite capable of translating the WMA version into whatever format you care to think of, RM is unfortunatly an awkward beast if you want to try and convert it into anything else.

oh you'll need to find a copy of the Lame encoder from somewhere if you want to do MP3 directly from Foobar, but it'll quite happily do WAVs that you can use your favourite encoder on.

They've actually finished filming. It's now in prepreduction and set for a summer 2005 release..!

Could be damn fine, so we just gotta hope DA's vision aint too tainted by corporate amercanisms.

However... the tertiary phase of HHGTG 1st episode was bloody great, and really took me back 10 years or so to when I originally bought the original series on tape...!

GENIUS!

Is this something worth getting into?

I always thought HHGTTG was like "Men are from Venus, Women are from Mars".

HHGTG is absolute literarty comedic genuis.

It is one of the funniest sets of books ever committed to paper, and is WELL worth getting into :D

Go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio4 and listen to the latest episode - though its not the same if you havent read the books or listened to the previous series'
