hey, well i was playing counter strike, then my computer all of a sudden just reseted itself, but i was annoyed, then i pulled the plug, now when i turn on my computer i get the BSOD!

it says "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME"

and other stuff with a long code thing at the bottom...

this is not the first time its happened to me, its like the third, but i re-installed it before, but there i things i need on it, is there a way that i can get it to run again?

thanks...

Sounds like a foulty hd or md to me, did you check the disk?
Could of course also be a major heat problem.

Sounds like your bootsector is screwed up totally, almost definately the fault of you pulling the plug (but it could be a faulty disk that caused the resetting in the first place, or a virus (unlikely)).

If you can get into a recovery console or use a boot disk, run the command chkdsk /p and if that doesn't work, try fixmbr . If that doesn't work, try fixboot . That will install a new bootsector.

BTW, if your main comp is totally dead ATM, what are you posting from? That might be able to help recover some data.

Try booting off the os cd and doing a repair (If it happens to be XP or win2k).
No Blue screen in either of those... at least, I don't think there is.

Like iignotus said, do you have another computer in your house?

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!

I tried fixboot, but that just screwed up my drive even more. Now my HD thinks it's a FAT instead of an NTFS!

Ok, FIRST OFF, try replacing the ram!! Do that BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE! Faulty ram could definatly cause that bsod!

I wish I had done that before doing fixboot...

(well, I can probably find a way to fix my filesystem back into thinking it's an NTFS, but I haven't tried anything yet)

Take the HDD out of your PC, attach it to your friend´s and make a backup. :)
If we can get any information on the working computer that saintdragon is using (assuming it's his own), we could probably use that. We need that info!

They DO have BSOD (at least XP does). its less common, but it does happen...

thanks allot everyone for such posts!

yes, im running xp and there are 2 other computers in the house!

first il try and see if i can get to the console, also as you said i can put the hard drive in the other computer, i done that the first time this happened to me(as i stated this problem has accored before) but when i done it, it made my brothers computer also corrupt, so im abit scared of it happeneing again!

and the second time this happened to me it worked, the third time the c drive came out as corrypt, and that was what one i needed, and this time, im not sure, so il look deeper into this, also, i lost my xp disk, so il call up my friend if i need to borrow it...

thanks allot everyone will try everything suggested!

also i dont think its a ram problem, but again im not 100 percent sure right now...

<3 you lots ;P

That's not possible unless you did something wrong. You should really try it again. Just put the old drive in and start up normally (from the working drive of course).
