Gp2x Questions - Newb

In the uk someone like craig is a godsend, i'm a good example of this i got my non flu off of lik sang as it was cheaper and so my parents were happy to buy it at the price. But when it arrived at the door a particularly nasty customs charge had been added. Bringing the cost well over the price gbax offered. So i'm definitely getting my gp2x off of gbax this time.

On another note i was wondering if anyone had any idea what the sound quality is like on the gp2x. The quality on the gp32 in retrospect was dissapointing and only down to a bad amp circuit i've no idea what is uses probably some op amp. It wouldn't cost much to replace with one that is alot better. So i'm hoping the gp2x can be better used as an mp3 player / movie player and may feature some bass what ever the volume is set to. Sound quality didn't really matter for the gp32 i mean you cant really get alot of mp3's into 128mb. I'm pretty certain that the sound quality will be alot better and i guess only craig can answer this question :Z

Can't expect much bass from tiny speakers... :)

But hopefully through a set of headphones, As the bass was decidedly weak on the GP32, Even through decent headphones.

Yeah i forgot to mention the headphone bit. I did mean bass on headphones which was kind of missing until the volume slider was in the middle. Then towards higher volumes the sound kind of distorted i think. I cant remember to well i barely ever use headphones with it now. I do appreciate the speaker would never be capable of any kind of bass....

I heard it hooked upto speakers and watched part of episode 1 of lost and it was great.

Video soon kids.

Power dictates the loudness/bass. If the thing had uber loud volume and thunderous bass you would get about 15 minutes out of the batteries.

It it just physics kids.

Thanks for the info craig. I didn't mean to say i wanted alot of volume. I simply want a chip that doesn't drop off the bass at low power. I'm not particularly educated in amp circuitry but in a recent pre amp i built from some schematics, i found that. Firstly the bass was not lost at a lower gain and the battery life was 200-300 hours off a 9 volt battery. Though i do admit that this is only bringing the guitar to above line level input levels. But that did bring the guitar from a non headphone level to quite a substancial level though this may be due more to the impedance matching. Surely this is just down to the op amp they're going to be using in the gp2x (if they're using op amps at all) and the quality of the component. It seems like the amp in the gp32 is getting below the minimum power it needs and this seems to cause bad sound quality at low volume.

The other thing i was wondering is if the SD card slot will already have support for the future 4gb and 8gb SD cards. Though i'm guessing this is more of a input output library kind of thing which we'll surely find out when the sdk is released.

Yep special Kicker limited edition GP2x. Dual solo/baric L7's with a 1000 watt
amp. Ducktaped to the back of my gamepark...............What this is a factory

Doesn't really matter for me. Zodiac doesn't play hard either, but I found some great and really cheap (10 bucks) ears, that play great, loud and good quality. :)
