As you may have read in another thread, I am using my GP32 in my car. The problem is, the best place to put it is a bit out of my reach; I'd have to lean over (at this point, I can't see the road ;) ) and press the button I want. I came up with a solution, however. I'll make a little control box in my reach, where I can change songs or have a play/pause button. In this case, I'll need access to the A, L, and R buttons. I already soldered to the tacts for L and R, but cannot find a good point for A. There is a via (one of those hole things) that would be ok, but that gets in the way of the SMC. I'd try the other side, but it's hard to get to that side of the mobo because the LCD connector is glued or something :(

So, I ask ye fair gameparkians where to solder the point for the A button. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
spongebue

Sorry, can`t help you with the soldering, but I would love to see a picture how that would look in your car with the soldered buttons :)

Why dont you just buy a cheap mp3 player?
I bought 256 mb player used for 20 €.

I'd never ever mess around with the innards of my precious GP32 just to turn it into a crappy 128MB car MP3 player.

You should work on something more worthwhile, like soldering 2 additional buttons in for SNES emulation. ;-)

large color screen :)
But you're not supposed to be looking at the screen. There's a road in front of you beyond the windscreen, which could be described as an even bigger colour screen that has the potential to hurt you if you aren't watching it.

instructions:

1. locate ground (links to every button)
2. solder wire to ground
3. locate buttons. solder a wire to the side of the contact pad which is not ground

like this:

joypad.jpg

4. daisy chain ground to one side of every button on you're remote (joystick + buttons in my case)
5. link the other wire to the corresponding button to the other side
6. done

note to all:
this is the first thing i'm doing to my gp2x if they have rgb out ;)
