Hey, I found a tv out cable here, but it doesn't ship till 30th of november. Anyone know of a way to get one sooner?

It is just an adaptor, you are expected to supply the cable to connect it to the TV, thats why it seems to short in the specs.

It's only long enough so that you can connect what ever extention cable you need. Some may just use an extentione Svideo cable but some people still you RCA in and some might have RGB or something else... I forget what else there is but the point is there's more than one type of jack for video and the last things most people would want is a 6 foot cable and another 6 footer connected to it.

There are convertors that just snap on to s-video connectors and change it to composite. S-video uses the same signals as composite, the only reason it is cleaner is because they are separated.

it does have composit out doesnt it?

Composite out is tooooo bad as far as quality is concerned, why ppl want it  ? We better get S-video at last. I hate my Nintendo64 (Nintendo were the BIGGEST fools for cutting out the RGB AVout on the PAL systems and disabling it in NTSC ones) for having a VERY VERY crappy Composite cable wich make it look worse than my SNES or MD on my TV (both are with full RGB cables)

So the best would be RGB connection But I doubt they would do that, so probably gonna get S-video which would be better than those stupid Composite cables.

Also if you TV input is TRUE S-Video you can get a COLOR signal even if it's not NTSC compatible (talking for European ppl here) Which for sure is NOT the case in Composite...

I plug my laptop on my Tv using S-video, if I use Composite I got a Crappy AND B/W picture :(

Edit: @Dave, those converters often give awful picture quality ... At last the ones I tried so far, because you lose a lot of quality wehn going S-Video-> Compo.

Edit2 : Will Laugh so much when Sony and Microsoft will sell their NextGen consoles HDTV ready and include a very crappy composite cable (as always nowadays) That's going to be soooo fun , and people will be so disapointed that the picture is not as sharp as it was during the E3 demos

duh, totally forgot about those lol THE only reason i want composit is simple I AM POOR non of my tvs have s video! NONE! i have 4 tvs with composit (2 27" one 25" and a tv/vcr combo)and 3 more that only have coax, all are probably more than 5 years old, some are older than i am.

people want composite because they dont have Svideo. It's not like this because the defecto standard 5 years ago, there are still people who dont have a Svideo connection on their TV sets.

Some TVs are being manufactored today with no intention of using s-video.

These TVs are usally fitted with SCART. Which looks a fair deal better.

So these people (myself included) try to avoid S-Video for all it is worth.

(to be fair, my TV (very new and sexy) support S-Video via a converter at DVD res in interlace) But I seriuosly doubt I can play my GP2X at that res at launch.

We will have them at the launch.

www.gp2x.co.uk

I presume as a separate entity to the GP2x value pack we pre-order people have paid for?

If so, any chance of augmenting orders with one of these as well for the appropriate surcharge?

Well I know that my Very old Sony Tv set had Svideo and it would be like 15 or 17 year old now(but it broke some years ago) The new one does not have S-video input on it but Svideo is available on the Scart input at the back using a cheap adaptor

Same applies with my cheap Philips Tv (bought for less than 200euros , 1 year ago)it has cristal clear picture using that Svideo+scart adaptor.

And Scart RGB connection was already the standard in Europe for Consoles on the MD/Snes era that was already long time ago . Then Sony sold its PS1 with crappy Composite cable because it's cheaper and everybody (except Sega for it's DC) followed this GREAT idea of providing crappy AV cables with the console to SELL a proper one as an accessory an to charge huge amount of cash for this proper cable.

And, 99,99% of Japanese TV sets have s-video as a standard , I expect that at least as much of Korean TVsets are the same.

It's not because some lousy American TV sets manufacturors are like 10 or 15 years behind that we should stop on the way to progress

The question of composite came after the photo when people wher unsure what the two extra plugs where for, it still hasn't been clearly answered from what i can tell. Supposedly audio wont come from the ext port so it has to come from the headphone jack. if that's the case what are the other two plugs for? thus the question about composite.

In all honestly there are like 3 american TV manufacturers, that's it, everything else is from overseas. Composite is easy and cheap, most every VCR in existance is equiped with it which is why game companies put them in the box rather than one of the other cables. They KNOW you'll be able to use it.

Put anything else in the box at launch and there'd be too many complaints. These companies all figure if you're really THAT much of an audio/videophile that you care thatyou got the usual RCA cables then you probably want digital surraound sound and monster cables and al that other jazz that most 'philes have no qualms about buying on their own.
