Ok, so I'm sold on the gp2x. I see that quake, and other games have been ported.

However, what are the odds of games like Diablo, Fallout, or Duke 3D being ported?..

I remember being able to run Diablo, Fallout, Duke3d, and other games on a pentium 133... with only 32 megs of ram.

It sounds logical that this system should be powerful enough to handle the games...

any thoughts?

EDIT :

Wishful "naive" thinking": I remember being able to run final fantasy VII on a P133 with 32 megs memory, and a 4 meg 3D card.

Porting / emulating a game like that is probably waaaay too much for this system, but maybe in the future?

Duke 3D is already on the way by the sounds of things. If you want the other 2, you'll need to get the source code for them to be ported. Devs can't port games they don't have the source for (if only!).

I think duke 3d will be there, But not sure about others. You see, It`s all down to source code, Of which is needed to make a port. Without the source to a game, The nearest you are going to get is a re-make. But all depends on the devvers, The people writing the games/software.

A few points....

-Diablo is made by Blizzard. Blizzard is notoriously unsuportive of Open Source Software
-Final Fantasy VII won't have the source released. Ever. I would be utterly shocked. It would be embarrasing for Square to release the PC source (that was a horrible port). It would be more likely that Playstation emulation would be able to run it... don't hold your breath, but it might be possible. It would require an extroardinarily optimised PSX emu though, and even then, it would be slow.

That sounds like a call for a complete rewrite to me! :p

I don't think it's that hard to believe. Fallout didn't really have impressive graphics.
