File Names

There exist a hacked version of the PC-link that allows longer filenames and there also exist a renamer. I think the hacked PC-link program just rename the files because the SMC can't read longer filenames then 8.3. Where to find them, I don't remember, maybe somebody else can help you there.

no there isn't but you can get utilities that will automaticly rename all of the stuff that you want to upload to the correct 8.3 standard but it does this by simply cutting off the end of the file name. There is also a version of pc-link 1.2 which has been hacked to do this automaticly it works and will upload anything regardless of the name of the rom but you might not be to happy with the end result of what it names all of the stuff to but hell it works if you have a ton of stuff to upload.

Yes there is way round it, just use an SMC reader/writer and you can use long file names and they work fine.

I don't know how you folks stand that gamepark software!

I'm with Craig on this one.. I've been putting my SMC into my digital camera and just copying over the files that way (the digital camera reads/writes cards formatted by the GP32 just fine). The speed is way higher, you get long filenames, it's all good. :)
