Hey Reesy!

I hope you find the spare time to read this :) After seeing how wonderfull your Megadrive Emulator works, I was thinking about how great an SNES Emulator with the same speed/compatibility would be.

Are there any chances of you porting snes9x over to the gp2x someday? Cause honestly, the emulator out right now is just useless, even with the gp2x @ 280mhz :(

I could be wrong and hope that I am, but all of the flak that he received last time might prevent him from touching SNES ever again. As soon as he touched it all of the buzzards came and whined for all kinds of features and then bitched a blue streak when he abandoned it.

The source is available and anyone with the skillz can port it. Who is up for it?

Tell you what reesy. Make me a Snes emulator that says my name on the screen, and give it to nobody but me (Including yourself). After this I may or may not give you $50. Failure to do so is a sin.

Anyone remember that chui planned to do a snes4all on the gp2x???
I am still counting on that actually... and he is at least equally skilled as reesy (both are coding gods :) )

Yes, and I seem to remember Franxis is helping him ...

Exactly. I was one of the people who kindly asked reesy (in a very lengthy PM :p ) to work on the snes emulator for the gp32, and guess what? he did. And it was great. That was, until people started bitching about it. He told everyone that his planned implementation of a new sound core would not happen because after looking over the code he decided that it was more than he had planned on. People should have accepted this, but didn't and continued to bug him about it.

So, I think that he should do whatever he feels like doing. He gave it a shot last time we bothered him, and then people just got pissed when he didn't follow thru. That helped me realize and respect rlyeh's approach to releasing his emulators.

Let the devs decide what to port, when to port, why to port.
Make suggestions, but no commands, mmkay?

And NEVER EVER say "this and that is crap and doesn't work" while a dev is working on it!
Rather help by telling what doesn't work, etc.
But DON'T SAY IT'S CRAP! Nothing is crap (well, okay, except for the stuff for the crap games compo :p )

If you DON'T LIKE unfinished stuff, DON'T use it!
Give NK some time, he didn't abandon it and he also included the OpenSNES9x core.

What did you think? That magical Reesy can port it within one day?
Hell NO!

Reesy is a VERY VERY good dev. And a VERY nice person, besides that.
He could port over DrMD pretty fast as this emulator has been mostly written on the scratch by him!
He knew what to change and where to look for it - but he'd need much more time for optimizing and porting stuff coded by others.

Okay. 'nough said.

Make suggestions, be nice to the devs, as they do all those freeware stuff for you - and just ignore WIP stuff if you expect 100% smooth playing.

CLOSED.
