Mame Gp2x Wip Dec20

There's also a version of Super Hang on that runs on Space Harrier hardware - also different from System16 hardware:

Code:
Main CPU : 2 x MC68000 @ 10 MHz
Sound CPU : Z80 @ 4 MHz
Sound;
1st Configuration : YM2151 @ 4 MHz & SegaPCM @ 15.625 kHz
2nd Configuration : YM2203 @ 4 MHz & SegaPCM @ 31.250 kHz
Video resoution : 320 x 224
Board composition : CPU board + Video board
Hardware Features : 128 Sprites on screen at one time, 2 tile layers, 1 text layer, 1 sprite layer with hardware sprite zooming, 1 road layer, translucent shadows

I doubt a MAME port, even with an ASM 68000 core will be able to emulate the dual 68000 cpu hardware at full speed.

The two ultra-helpful links I posted show what runs on System 16 hardware.

Super Hang On isn't System 16 - it's Outrun Hardware:

http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=697

According to System16.com:

System16-A Hardware:
Code:
Main CPU : MC68000 @ 10 MHz
Sound CPU : Z80 @ 4 MHz
Sound chip : Yamaha YM2151 @ 4 MHz & NEC uPD7751 ADPCM Decoder
Video resolution : 320 x 224 (vertical)
Colour's : 4096
Board composition : CPU board + Video board
Hardware Features : 128 Sprites on screen at one time, 2 tile layers, 1 text layer, 1 sprite layer with hardware sprite zooming, translucent shadows

System16-B Hardware:
Code:
Main CPU : MC68000 @ 10 MHz
Sound CPU : Z80 @ 5 MHz
Sound chip : YM2151 @ 4 MHz & Nec uPD7759 @ 640 kHz
Video resoution : 320 x 224 (vertical)
Colours : 4096
Board composition : Mother board + Rom board
Hardware Features : 128 Sprites on screen at one time, 2 tile layers, 1 text layer, 1 sprite layer with hardware sprite zooming, translucent shadows

Outrun Hardware:
Code:
Main CPU : 2 x MC68000 @ 12.5 MHz
Sound CPU : Z80 @ 4 MHz
Sound chip : YM2151 @ 4 MHz & SegaPCM @ 15.625 kHz
Video resoution : 320 x 224
Board composition : CPU board + Video board
Hardware Features : 128 Sprites on screen at one time, 2 tile layers, 1 text layer, 1 sprite layer with hardware sprite zooming, 1 road layer, can draw 2 roads at once, translucent shadows
ah, that would make sense (i haven't played it on an emulator in about 5 years so my memory of it isn't the best! :p)

regardless, a decent speed System 16 & CPS1 on the GP2X will be amazing! :D

is it possible to integrate a 68K asm core, like used in DrMD in this mame port, Neogeo and CPS1 would run much better i think
In the GP32 version at least, Cyclone is already used.

My tests:

A lot of games run fine, though the sound stutters a bit.

Some problems:

Golden Axe: Crashes as soon as you select the character
Altered Beast: Crashes as soon as it starts - well, BGM continues, but you cannot move.
Wonderboy: Monster Lair: Plays fine, but without sound
Street Fighter 2: Runs, but doesn't display background graphics
Shinobi: After using the super attack, the sprite stays the same unless you throw your next ninja star (looks funny :))
Rainbow Islands: Distorted Graphics (AFAIR it is encrypted - is it not?) and no sound
TNZS (1&2): Doesn't run
Magical Drop 2: Crashes after selecting game type, also: no sound.
Karnov's Revenge: Some graphic glitches, runs fine otherwise

So it looks like System16 and Neo Geo are still a bit buggy, but already looking good!

Do any other games work aside from those on Neo Geo, CPS or System16? I'm really iching to get some proper Toaplan action on the go. As good as Twin Cobra is on the Mega Drive (and indeed, DrMD), it's more or less just Kyukyoku Tiger - very unsuitable for play on the go!

Failing that, I guess I'll probably be able to have a gander at all the shit fighting games that filled the release schedules back in the day. ;)

Wish I could get in the beta -- CPS/1/2, NG, and System16 are kinda passions of mine...

Hi

What version of Mame is this (34?) Its just that I have version 90 roms and Im not too sure all my newer roms will work on the older version of Mame

Also is Double Dragon and Slapfight working?

Thanks for all your great work.
