What's Your Opinion On Region Coding?

Region coding is stupid. Sony wont release the White PSP outside of japan, so I cant import it as american movies wont play. Thus they are loosing out on a sale. But besides the point that my 1 sale doesn't matter to them. Region coding hackers, bootleggers, and region free DVD players only exist because of region coding. Its the DRMers that cause more DRM breaking. You get my gist?

I knew the term Sony would be included in your post

Nintendo
Microsoft
Panasonic
Phillips
JVC
Sharp
etc, etc, etc.

I don't really care for Sony, and I think region coding is total bullshit, but get your facts straight.

for a mild nintendo fanboy you obviously know nothing about them. A vast majority of companies use region coding, not to mention the video game industry being one of the top industries to use region coding ;)

Ive imported GC and DS games before and no region coding on them. So no...
I dont own an xbox and PC games are not region encoded. So no...
Panasonic Wait what?
Phillips ditto
JVC the cam corder company?
Sharp the TV company?

The only two companies ive personally come into contact with on DRM are sony, and apple.

DS games aren't. GC games are. I don't know how you got a game that had no region coding, but they are region coded.

XBox games are. I'll have to take your word on the PC games, but I'd be surprised if this were the case.

Yes, JVC only makes camcorders. Sharp only makes TVs. Companies only ever make one kind of product. Ever.

Sarcasm aside, all these companies make DVD players which have region coding. It's a lot more widespread than Sony and Apple. Hell, the DVD drive in your computer probably has region coding on it.
