Got My Vg Pocket Max Today, Here's My Indepth Revi

I read your review and thought it was good. I really think that the control problem is in software rather than the hardware itself. If it was in the hardware, all the games would be troublesome in the controls. And I do think that the chrome buttons make the unit look cheap. It has been confirmed on the net that it is a “NES-on-a-chip.” I have not gotten the 75 game one but I will as soon as I find it. From the looks of your list, I might find a few more games to play. Glad to see that someone else thinks that this is a neat little gadget.

The games I like to pick up and play are as follows,

Smash Ball (Penguin Wars on NES)
Bandit racer
Road Race (Bump n Jump)
Air War (1941?)
Earth's Starfighter (this is one of my favorites)
Sky Fighter (this one is very brutal with no power ups)
Space Shooter (weird twist on tetris, on NES this is Quarth)
Sub Hunter (Battleship board game also Battleship on NES)
Free throws (I think I played this on Wario Ware)
Bird Craze ( this is a better duck hunt IMO)
Dragons tail (nibbles on NES)
Drop & Stock (another tetris twist)
Fire Fight (great weird breakout clone)
Flying fish (I don't know why I like this, it is my second favorite. 79 fish top score per level)
Fungi (is that Kirby?, I have seen and played this game before, crystal mines?)
Go Bang (this is a board game called Gomoku/ Pente, edit: on NES this is Hayauchi Super Igo)
Grow and mow (for some reason I like this one too)
Jewels (columns )
Fun Moves (I know this as "same game" from Linux)
Sky Mission (strange but I find this fun, edit: on NES this is Astro Robo sasa)
Smart Monkey ( this is Pooyan, I do not think any of the graphics have changed which makes me wonder why are a lot of the title screens missing in these games?)

If this is the future of cheap gaming, how do you think this would affect the handheld market?
edit:typos

the dpad problem is %100 hardware. not software because I can feel it sticking to the case. perhaps if you open the unit and shave off 1mm the hole in the holes that house the dpad problem will be gone.

curses!
I just found myself with $50 extra to burn from a little side work.
I'm trying to think of good reasons why I shouldn't just head down to the game store and pick up the medium sized one today...

I guess it's my unit then.

I think "stick" is the wrong word. perhaps I am explaining it wrong

the problem is actually when u press the direction down and let it go. when it pops up it get caught on the plastic that surround the dpad

I am thinking, because mine is a 50 and yours is a Max, that there is a difference in the design. Yours is the larger of the three systems. I do know that the smallest one has a joy stick for the d-pad. Probably the best control of the three. Whenever I pick up a Max I'll have to check that out.
