Hi... I just got a gp32 from a friend (it was free)... It's broken...

Whenever I try to access the folders on the GP from PClink, I get the following error messages (in Windows XP)

"An error occured in GP32 during process"

and on the GP itself

"PC-Link 1.01 by Dark Fader
waiting
get gp version
get folder list
SMC link error"

It's driving me nuts... I can't do anything!

Now I know why it was free...

Free???? Damn!

You do have an SMC in it don't you?

More likely though... Are you sure your USB ports work? I had the same error on the PC and needed to get some updated drivers for my motherboard. Have you connected any other usb devices successfully?

Yeah, the SMC is in... The USB ports work (Digi cam, mouse, printer etc)...

I can format the SMC via the PC-Link program, but thats about it...

Thanks for the reply :D

Make sure you have loaded the USB drivers for the Gamepark. Also, go under device manager on your PC and make sure that the Gamepark 32 appears under USB devices. I have had lots of connection problems between the PC and the GP32 using the original cable and PC-Link. I also seem to have frequent problems with plugging my GP32 into my PC and it not being recognized correctly. Usually it takes a few tries to get the connection and I have to leave the GP32 sitting perfectly still and not bump it or it will lose its connection. I hope my cable is faulty but I suspect the usb port on the GP32 may be at fault as well. Because of the constant plugging/unplugging of this cable, I wish they had picked a better type of connection.

Sadly, the USB drivers are fine... (unless there are some custom ones somewhere)... I'm beginning to think the SMC card is wrecked... D:
