This issue came up last year and went away. Now its back again.

The way i read this, if it's true, when you load up a game you will have to agree to a user license to play the game. Once you agree to this you cannot resell the game to anybody, which will mean you could not buy used games at EB or Gamestop or anywhere.

Is it me or is Sony TRYING to lose the console war?

I dunno where Sony do their market research. Dubai? Not many people I know can afford to pay for new games whenever they need one.

There has been talk of this for a lonnnng time, but i cant believe any company would be stupid enough to try to do it.
Have you heard of a company that forced people to use their cd player if they pop in the cd into cd drive? That cd player installed itself without telling you and there was no proper way to uninstall it? If you still tried to uninstall it yourself, it scewed up the cd drive permanently? Anything is possible, especially if the company in question is the same company that I just mentioned. I can't help but feel that the biggest reason why Sony pushing BlueRay drive in PS3 is for the built-in copy protection feature. Do you think, the BD copy protection is unpenetratable?

That didn`t stop Valve though, did it?

Can`t believe Sony would do something that dumb.
well, thing is that you can still sell the medium, just not use it. i think...

i don't think it's anti sony to want to stop piracy and stuff like that, but a lot of people, including myself, rarely buy games brand new and wait for them to be pre owned, and this move would probably hurt the sales of the PS3 and in my opinion is a horrible move if they decide to go that way..its not anti-sony.

If you've read any post from CodeNinja, you'd see that me and DaClassicgamingmaster are about the only 2 people on this board satisfied with their Sony products.

Well, considering they've already publically stated that they aren't going to do this particular thing - namely, locking any videogames you buy to a single PS3 unit - it's a bit superstitious of their past exploits to continue to think they will do it anyway (past exploits being: what they've done to the PSP homebrew crowd, etcetera, but they never announced they wouldn't do that).

That said, I can certainly see your concern! I almost always buy used console games, rarely ever new ones.

Regardless, Shikaku is right.

I'm pleased with my PS2. My walkman and my psp are shamefully shoddily(ooh, alliteration) built, but they are both fab products.

Are you kidding me? Months ago when sony announced that blue ray would have this feature I thought it was a joke. This is pathetic that they are actually going to go through with it. This will kill ebgames/gamestop's trade-ins sales.
