Ok, now that there are more coders so the responsibility won't weigh down on any one or two people, I'm up for coding. Just let me know if I'm needed.
Since I did say that we could use an administature.

Rico Since this is a community project.. go ahead do whatever coding you want, All the help we can get would be deeply appreciated.

good now whoever is making the sprites we get to work on how the two playable characters looks and movements and test it on geepee or the gp32 just to see if it will look good.

GET THE LINK fixed please

genuinely though, we do need a forum for the storyline. Maybe instead, the people in charge of storyline could exchange e-mail adresses and work this way. What do you say GP32animefreak?

My MSN is BazzieK@hotmail.com, post yours here too if you work on the storyline!

@Bazzie: IMHO, its much easier to use the PM service here.

@Cooljerk: there is a _GPgetkey function ( i am not sure of the actual name... )

hopefully i will have some code done by tonight... so just wait for it.

well i have an idea for a cutscene, there are some people and an opposing force(bad guy, monster) have come in, your character yells 'use these guns' to the other people and throws them over to them, they throw the guns at the bad guy/monster and run away screaming. I always wanted to see that.

Okay....
now here's what I think should be done in what order:

1. The groups have to become organized into subgroups and exchange eMails adresses. A forum or mailing list would be nice (I can put up an extra forum at my homepage if necessary)

2. The storyline-artists should discuss about the main story and write a short exposé.

3. They should also come up with the main characters and describe them (Name, Age, Where from, etc. It's best to create a character with as many details as possible. You should even be able to tell his / her favourite food if someone asks!)

4. After the group has a main idea and some characters, they should tell the coders what needs to be possible (e.g. cut scenes, different actions if you have different items, etc.)

5. The coders should define the technical details, e.g. sprite size, how many animations per sprite walking, fighting, graphic format for charmaps, etc. and post it so the designers and graphical artists can start working with some basic graphics (e.g. grass and mountains... as they will probably be used in the game :))

6. The first thing the coders should program are the editors (I guess Win32 is best?), as the designers can immediately start working.

7. Well, the rest is parallel working. The story artists give the graphical and map designers more information, the coders code everything needed, etc.

I hope everyone agrees with that ;)

I'll help anywhere I can, as subgroup leader, artist, etc.
Just tell me what to do :)

Can you draw good evildragon I could use a helper with the cutscenes...
Also If you could create an organization sheet , that would be great...
Oh yes Rico I was wondering if you could code the cutscenes in when we have the finished project..And also we could use help with the start menu if your interested.

I'm currently working on the Bulletproof engine. Basically a top-down 80 degree RPG/action game engine with lots of features ... a lot that could be entered into this game, stuff like the AI code. As for cutscenes, I would think scripting-based cutscenes using the engine would be better than slideshows.

I think there should be both in game cutscenes and slide-show ones. The slide show ones taking the place of FMVs in modern RPGs picturing major events.

If the pictures that makes up the slides could be moved, resized and rotated and if you could have several moving independently you could make some really cool stuff.

I haven't started the website yet but a forum will be done :D I hope to do a lot a stuff tomorow but it might take longer.

Anyway: Without a host i can't do anything :( If someone knows a goodhost PLEASE POST IT :p I need PHP (for the forum and site but i can build a site withouth PHP if that's a problem)
