AND, another type being prototyped that will replace the back cover, offer modular battery packs, and have options like included keyboard/trackball.

I made my own USB host terminator, I used a $8 USB hub, it has 4-ports and we are running linux with full HID (Human Interface Device) support.

PS, USB Adaptor does not equal BoB. Since most people only need/want the USB host and video, the current official BoB is crap, you will pay $50 for it and then $25 more for a Second official PSU to power it (explain to me why it needs 12v, anyone? The USB hub part is the only part drawing power, and that only needs 5 volts), $75 I didn't have, so I made my own.

I would build one or buy one from Techfreak(if he ever builds one) or artaylor.co.uk("toyz for boys", just don't google that and not expect a lot of bondage toy sites)

Oh yeah, the controllers will work just fine, it is writing a game or emulator to use them that will be the trouble.

All I want in a BOB is a stand on which I can place my GP2X and TO which I can connect several controllers and the cables that go to my TV. I don't mind extra power sources at all, and I guess you could even use the stand to charge your batteries while you play if that was supported at some point.

Yeah, thus the official one is crap for your purpose too.

All connections are in the way and there is no stand :).

Stoopid design, and I suppose you are NOT going to be using the dumb serial or Jtag either, why pay for them?

yeah all i want is a way to play 2 player games with tv out. its really the most practical use for gp2x users so there really should be a bob for just that purpose. the other features are good for devs but most users wouldn't need or want the other extra features.

Well, that sounds like the best design anyone could hope for. Who is engineering this one? Is it going to be given to GPH as plans to manufacture or sold independently (if at all?)

I know for a fact that if I could connect my GP2X to the TV and play with my friends, there would be a whole lot more buyers for the machine. A friend of mine (whom I rarely speak with, so I couldn't talk him out of it) bought a PSP rather than a GP2X after looking at both units. The only major plus so far is the full-res TV-out feature (and that I don't HAVE to crack my firmware to make it work with emus and homebrew, but he doesn't agree that that's a drawback with the PSP.) but if we had THAT as well, it'd be awesome!

I forget the name of the thread, but it is just a guy building it, do a search for BoB and you should find it (use google to search this site) adding the words USB or D-Cell (I think I wrote that in one post there)

Edit: Here is the link, don't bother searching. B.o.b. Cradle, Project on the go, who wants to help?
