the problem is the monster.sou file that carries the speech is too big to fit on an SMC.
I understand there is a project to convert this to smaller format such as MP3 or OGG and modify the scumm engine to read that. could be difficult though because the engine will not only have to run the game but also do the OGG/MP3 decompression which is goign to be quite processor intensive i should imagine.
If you have the floppy version you can use the monster.sou file ( just put in the same directory as the other game-files ) this sound file is small enough but there is not a lot of speeking going on. It does show however that speech works if the sound files are small enough.
it's worth trying (would try it with DOTT, Sam & Max only adds sound-effects) it sounds really nice.
isnt there a way to cut something from the .sou file at the end, so at the end of the game u cant hear the ppl anymore, but at the beginning you could. ... h34r:
The monster.sou for the DOTT CD-version is 256MB so even half the file would be to big. Plus you would need some way to figure out what you can cut out and where. MP3 or OGG support would be a much better (and more likely) solution.
