This game must be my favourite doom engine game and on the GBAX site and some others it says that there is a port available for our beloved handheld but I haven't been able to findd it.
Does anyone have any information on that game? Is it actually in development, is it available, how playable is it?, bugs, music, SFX?
I'm pretty psyched about this and all information would be appreciated.

wow, never seen anything about Hexen, but there is a port of Heretic, though from what I hear its pretty crappy.

It's as good as Doom was before its recent updates.... ie. good!
What version do you have thats good, this is straight from this board.

What's new:

sound sucks, noise & clicks everywhere, which is better than no sound at all imho :)
no music :/
limited controls, you can't even select a weapon :(
everything else I forgot the mention

Seems pretty crappy to me.

I have a version of heretic semi done (there isn't a way to include all the controls...), hexen isn't too hard to do as well but again it is control problems.

There are something like 15 diffrent functions.

I would love to see a Hexen port... (as well as a Duke3d and Blood1 port ;) )

Concerning the control problem, couldn't you do it like opensnes does (by pressing select to switch controlls to different buttons (for example press select and R/L to select weapon then press select only once and than select and R/L to select item + R AND L to activate it etc? A and B can switch functions too)
That and a little extra menu for buttons not used that often should do the trick, shouldn't it?

You've got to Strafe, Change Weapons, and cycle through inventory.

You've also got to look up and down.

All these points need to be addressed before Duke, Blood, Hexen, Heretic or Shadow Warrior will appear.

Hmmm, maybe that guy who added the extra ram can work out how to add extra buttons too :)
Or you could mod the chatboard mod...move some of the keys to switches that sit under the bulgy bits on the back of the GP. Three buttons (for middle, ring, and little finger) on each hand...a GP with 12 buttons...and you know what that allows us to do...emulate a PSX!

*ducks and runs away from a hail of abuse*
:D

How about having a system similar to caSTaway the ST emulator. This allows a config to call a different button and joystick layout. I've used it to create 3 configs for one complex game all accessed from the left hand shoulder button.

Press once to move to second button set

Press again for third button set

Press again for first set and so on in a loop.

It's quick and easy once you get the hang of it.
