In recent weeks, there have been quite a lot of projects unveiled or started, many of which seem to be making quite a bit of headway. And a fair few may involve betas or more advanced betas turning up sometime in the not too distant future.

So I'm just wondering, what with GPFinalWar having progress made on it, the new driving game - at least on PC - underway, the GBA emu slowly surfacing, and the recent Metal Slug tech demo, not to mention Xigon 1 or Mr Miroko's newly announced attempt at MAME (good luck, btw :) ), or even the fact that GPEngine isn't dead, whether it might be worth having a very very friendly (not too many rules/restrictions on when betas can be released etc.) competition again sometime soon. Perhaps near the end of March/start of April or something?

Just water-testing - what do others think of the idea? And when would it be worth doing, since to have it to soon might be to not get many entries due to projects being green as yet, but to have it late might hold back when people were actually going to release things.

I would support this. Maybe we could even set up some kind of paypal-donation-prize. Everyone who is interested could put 5 bucks in there and in the end we would (hopefully) have a sweet prize that is worth developing for. :)

i'd happily donate a huge box of 8-bit games - winner can choose platform - spec,c64 and amstrad. would be about 100 games

hope this gets the ball rolling for others to consider donations

this is a great scene with lots happening - ill give back in any way i can

c'mon everyone - lets get a good comp going

I'd donate 5 bucks, or whatever the total in British pounds. We should make this happen!

We've had the 15 Days Coding Competitions etc., but why not a proper GP32xtreme one? If we all donated $5 that could be a very nice incentive.....and lead to a hell of alot.

 Graigx, may be gbax2004 will start at the begining of May ? I could finish my little game .

It would be cool to have a GP32x compo :) I'd donate 10EUR for it... Mabye:

1st place: 80% of money
2nd place: 15%
3rd: 5%

:)

Although gbax2k4 starts soon enough, I dont think it would hurt to have a gp32x one soon down the pike. I think we should make a front page anouncment with a link for donation..but make it after gbax. A few weeks atleast..got to give our programmers some rest (not too much though :D )

if you guys want to get good turn out, right before the gbax comp starts ( you should tell us the exact date if ya can craig, that would rock ) make an anouncement that we will be doing one and it starts right when the gbax one ends and it goes for 15 ( or 16 depending on the month) day ( a month total should bring a good project or two! ) so then the coders would have a month and then some to code their little hearts out. Also , if ya want something, tell them that in the anouncement that we would like -FILL THIS IN- and that would prolly win if it was good.
Thats my 2cents

PS could we get gbax to put up a thing sayin that coders should conitue projects for gp32x comp ( please? )

Whats the best way to garuntee emulation gettin in?

Make it an emulation contest of course! Why the hell not. I feel more people would be willing to add money if they are garunteed emulation progress.
