Fpse For Gp32!

Yes, i have a Playstation emu on my pc... and some small games.
But i dont use FPSE cause my pc is fast enough for the others.. also the latest version of FPSE isnt that good..

i hope someone does make bigger cards compayible cause that would rock, has any one heard anything about them latley?

maybe you could make a mod so that you slotted in a peice of plastic with the connectors on and then that is connected to different smcs. and then the smc can be changed by the flick of a switch. could even make it electrical so that it gives a command through the ext port to change smc. doing this would allow as much capacity as you like :)

In my opinion, this emu would be interesting, but not one I'd use much. Probably. As mentioned, ripping all music and FMV from a game does kind of kill it to a greater or lesser degree - some games a LOT less, of course, but some it wipes out.

Darn impressive if he manages it though - though I personally am sceptical; I've always thought GBA would be the absolute limit for GP32. If he manages PSX to a playable degree, it will be the single most impressive feat of programming I've seen yet for this wonderous handheld. It just won't be one I use much - OS9x will do me, and ideally fGen32 in due course, along with everything else we've already got...

PSX would rocks for little games like : Ridge Racer...C&C...maybe tekken1 or toshiden....
in fact games without a storyline and from the begining (1995-1997)...
Of course FF7 or MetalGear sounds great but we are still talking about GP32
(maybe the emu could work "correctly" with the 32M RAM mod @ 166MHz)

see you

Ah thanks, saves me the writing time :D. I 100% agree. It would boost sales dramatically + amaze my mates, but I really doubt anything playable will come of it. Good luck to the guy tho! Hope he prooves me wrong.

all i care about is command + conquer :p it would be beyond ultimate 2 have that it would be like homestarrunner great etc etc etc etc

you could also port the opensource c&c engine.. should be much easier than this emu...
and faster ;)

Hmm... Castlevania: SOTN was 2d and it looks pretty small, but I couldn'y play it without the music, thats one of the best parts of the game... Well maybe you could fit it on there with just the FMV's ripped out and the music still in, you could probably fit it on one card. It didn't really use shoulder buttons either, and nor did FF7.

2D PSX games on the go would be awesome, and probably the #1 technical achievement on GP32 if it's a playable speed. This emu might just be the best way to play the CPS-1/2/Neo-Geo games (as ports), since it won't take a RAM mod or SMC-streaming trickery just to fit the ROMs in memory.

Even if they got PSX upto 60 FPS on the GP32, seriously people how many good games are there for PSX under 128 MB?  Honestly I cant think of any.

And Gametrac would be awesome if it wasnt for the tiny screen and stupid trigger buttons.  I purchased Gp32 because of the larger screen, and didnt choose zodiac because of the stupid button layout.  GP has the best of all of those worlds, a standard size screen (standard for most any console system), nice button layout, etc..., now if only they would make a faster CPU version with 2 more buttons...
That is not correct, Quake is a massive game for the PC.. the one the guy translated for GP32 is what?? 10MB? and look at the size it is for PC, it is all compressed since it is being used on a different system.. lower resolution etc.. and the game is complete its just with lots of glitches and crashes, it proves the games get compressed.

The only problem with this is that the person who makes the EMU would have to compress the games somehow which i dont think will work and he cant exactly do all of them.. probably a waste of time in that case

hmmm, if mashmods offered a ram upgrade, then he could make it 32 meg capable and it would be a lot better cause he wouldnt have to leave out certain things that might not fit

Good idea, then we'd be asking the question of a price :).

It's a shame it's not possible to overclock the graphics chip built into the board inside the gp32 as it would affect performance alot.

a mod for bigger memory cards to make them usable in gp32 would be good too..

If a lot of the GP32 community sent in their gp's for a 32 MB Mod, PSX emulation could definately be a possibility. (Someone would have to start a mod service though)

I'm already drooling to see how this turns out. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I still don't see why 8MB wouldn't be enough to handle PSX games. We don't need to load whole games into memory; just stream it as a real PSX would (see other posts.)

Every time someone mentions a PS1 emu the boards go mental. Don't all of you realize that a PS1 emu would suck on a < 400 MHZ handheld? It would have no sound, no 3D support, would be a pain in the ass to convert disk images as you would have to hack them to pieces, and run dog slow, not to mention the space they take up.

How about we get the devs to spend their time on a practical emu. We dont have a decent Genesis emu, the SNES emu needs work, even GBA is more doable. Heck there isn't even an Atari 2600 or lynx emu that works worth a damn. Forget the stupid PS1, it ain't practical..
