2 Questions About The Internet Connection

Squidge: Tmobile has unlimited data for $25/month with a voice contract and $40 without. For $60 they have the one with a 5GB cap for use with their simless 3g card, but the card below will make it possible to use the $40 smartphone total internet package with AWS 3g. Their usage agreement...

    Antivirus

You're really lucky that they'd even consider letting you connect it to the network and that the only hurdle is company AV policy. Most companies don't want anything not controlled by the company on the network. Part of it's for security, but it's mostly for productivity. If people are...

    Pandoras Operating System

Angstrom already has gnome and Xfce; you don't need anything from Debian ARM to run either DE.

E17 rocks; I can't imagine the need for anything else for this kind of device, aside from issues of personal preference.

How High Is The Chance The Pandora Gets Lost Using Royal Mail?

If Royal Mail has insurance on par with that of UPS, then stick with it. If it doesn't, change shipping methods. If it gets lost, it doesn't matter which service you use, so make sure you use a service which will reimburse you without much hassle should they lose the package.

    Two 16-gigs Or One 32-gig?

32GB cards have dropped in price by about 50% since New Year's. Wait until they're shipping the Pandora to buy your flash cards. 64GB cards should be available by then, and the novelty tax will shift to those from the 32GB ones. With the price dropping anyway, that should push the...

    Wiz Screen Vs Pandora Screen.

There's a huge difference between a freebie for a tiny group of hobbyists and support for the dominant mobile computing architecture. If Adobe pushes it much beyond the second half of this year, somebody else is going to step in and steal the market from them.

    Wiz Screen Vs Pandora Screen.

Flash 10 for ARM 11 and Cortex has been announced, and should be ready this year. There's a link to the announcement in this thread.

    Pandora Pandora-psp

Awesome work. Are you planning to complete an x86 version, or just using your PC for testing? It sounds like your already further along with an x86 version than just about anyone.

    Plan For Memory?

If you've got 32GB to move, things look very different. With the fastest cards, about 17MB/s from the benchmarks I've seen, you're looking at 30 minutes. On a slow class 4 card, that would take more than 2 hours. 90 minutes is hardly inconsequential.

    Will This Umid Kill Pandora

How about your car, in the same spot where a radio would normally slot in?

CODE http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressreleases/200811/111708ARMAdobeFlash.html Yes, that was an amusing one. *facepalm*

    Wiz Screen Vs Pandora Screen.

Yeah, by the time the Pandora is released, the Cortex optimized Flash should be available from Adobe, making it dramatically better than the Wiz could ever be.

    Vba?

If you're really impatient for a functioning GBA emulator, you could always go commission the VGBA developer for a port. It works pretty well on the Nokia tablets, might just need a recompile.

    Wiz Screen Vs Pandora Screen.

That and the insane pixel density. Even though I'll be doing a lot of scrolling :P to compensate for the short screen, the pixel density is higher than with 8.9" 1024x600 screens, screens which are 4.3" wide when oriented vertically, the same as the Pandora. The Wiz, with its 2.2" wide...

    Wiz Screen Vs Pandora Screen.

The Wiz has an OLED screen. The Pandora has an LCD. OLEDs are almost as fast as CRTs, so there won't be any ghosting whatsoever. The Pandora has a very good LCD; however, people who are sensitive to ghosting will notice it, as they will with any LCD.

What About Decibel Of The Speakers?

Honestly, who cares about the sound from the internal speakers on a portable? 95% of the time you'll be using sealed headphones to keep from disturbing other people, in which case it should sound on par with any of the better portable audio players. Fortunately for the hardcore among us, the...

    Booting Linux In 3 Seconds

Sleep should certainly be a workable option, once the settings are right. LPDDR needs around .5 mA for standby and most everything else can be shut off. Battery life in standby should be measurable in weeks.
