    Pyra's new cpu board soc.

I am wondering why the pyra would use anything other than what hardkernel/odroid is using for their SOC. I know that the replacement board talked about was talked about for it's linux support but all odroid socs have to have linux support out of the box. They also support the SOC for at least...

Text field's color is off with high contrast themes.

it's CSS.PHP:1 is where the color's set as black and when you set your browsers colors in a similar fashion it _doesn't_ change the color of it. So by changing the css.php for the HTML colors to color:black, background-color:white it'd fix all of the issues. Also part of it is how the thing is...

Text field's color is off with high contrast themes.

I am talking about the browser's theming from the OS. I use a high-contrast them(aka a dark theme) and for some reason CSS.PHP makes the background black and the text black thus it shows up as black. https://anonimage.net/image/zwyoTofQqF

Text field's color is off with high contrast themes.

As stated the background color is set as black and the text color is also black. I don't know where it's getting it from but it looks very very off and is something new. The last time I replied back before the pandora's heatsink was improved this was not an issue. I have not changed my browser...

    GPD WIN 2

except that I have a cell phone so there's literally _zero_ reason to pay another data bill. Incase you've forgotten the cell chip in the pyra is one for people outside of the US where I live GSM is shit and sure it has LTE but really, do you think that _american_ companies are going to let you...

    GPD WIN 2

Let me just say this much. the gpdwin 2 definitely makes me second-guess my purchase of the pyra. It's taken a very long time to get off of the ground and now the omap in it is seeming like the relic that the current pandora's cpu is. If the win2 is for a similar price I will go with it simply...

    The tale of the cases

ED talked about doing 2 heatsinks on the system not just a single one. Plus he talked about adding a fan to the system if he had to. A very small one. My post was about doing the dual heatsinks and then keeping the space for the fan in the mould and it could still fit. That's what I'm talking...

    The tale of the cases

it's not a soc dream post. It's a planning for the future by preparing it right now post. That's it. That's what it was about because since the thing is doing extreme thermal throttling right now and since it's made to go to 1.5ghz it should be able to do 1.5ghz at less than 90*C. So there's...

    The tale of the cases

Let me say this much about thermals(not posting there since thread is too old and dealt with family issues for the past 6weeks). It better have dual heatsinks as the new socs are even more insane with thermal runaway when used at the "default" maximum clock speed. Look at the hard kernel devices...

News from the meeting at GC

So then the system's cpu will have a max clock of 1.5Ghz? There's zero chance of it going to the 1.7Ghz that the soc is capable of?

Let me get this straight the pyra doesn't use thermal paste?!

Then how in the world would adding additional copper to the pcb layers magically increase heat dissipation if everyting but the pins is ceramic? I know that the samsung soc dev boards(or might as well be them) all have heat sinks on them because it's pretty much required to run them at...

    Pyra's root filesystem.

Since the pyra's going to be using debian, and since you're going with 3.17 I see no reason to not use btrfs+zlib compression to help reduce the number of writes on the sd card, along with speeding up the overall reading of the data off of it. Admittedly it doesn't yet have lz4(which I hate) but...

    GamesCom, Shoulderbuttons and Heating

Once again here too, he said "using a heat sink doesn't seem to help at all." Thus there's no thermal paste on it, and 70*C is way too hot for an SOC to be especially a mobile one. that thing needs a heat sink with proper thermal paste. My laptop's quad core cpu barely gets above 75*C...

Let me get this straight the pyra doesn't use thermal paste?!

He said that the heat sink doesn't seem to help at all, so thus that's where i'm getting it from. There's no way a heat sink doesn't dissipate heat at all unless you're using some really crappy thermal paste.

Let me get this straight the pyra doesn't use thermal paste?!

So the thing is getting up to 70*C but is using _no_ thermal paste between the soc and the heatsink? Seriously? The hell's going on here? Using no thermal paste is the equivalent of using no heatsink at all. Seriousl, the what is going on here. I can't believe what I'm reading here.

    GamesCom, Shoulderbuttons and Heating

I wouldn't be surprised that the heat sink is doing very little to cool the thing especially if you're not using thermal paste, if you're not using thermal paste then what's the point of even using a heat sink? Also what thermal paste are you using? I know that me personallyl the cheap crap...

    Cinnamon as the official desktop?

Mate, mate mate mate mate, you should _always_ use mate as the default desktop enviroment. Gnome3, is way too laggy especially on anything but a high powered x86 cpu, kde? Same thing, kde's way too bloated to really work right now. Next up cinnammon is juste gnome3 except less crappy so once...

Pandora Optimized mathematical functions for pandoras.

I know that notaz's psx emualtor is fully optimized neon code but I imagine that many many people aren't using that level of optimizations for their mathematical functions. So I thought I'd share this library with you all since I'm sure it'd help with a lot of games that were previously just...

    Some more of my ideas

No dev board with it atm that isn't an insanely high cost. That's it really. If you want to get an omap5 dev board it's literally like 300+$. Whereas omap4 is way cheaper. If he's able to get it, I'd go full on omap5 since you'll get better clocks, bettery power, better everything. but I didn't...

    Some more of my ideas

First off you were already previously trying to do android on the pandora. So the SOC shouldn't be hard to figure out. I'd personally do the new pandaboard based system. aka the new omap 4460(if I remember right) SOC. It's essentially an upgraded omap3 that youhave in the 1ghz units atm. The...
