Hello, I was wondering if someone here knows a bit about guitars.

I'm a player, and I found someone selling a nice looking 70's guitar.

The brand is Kay, and it's presumably made in the early 70s. He doesn't know anything about it himself either.

It looks a bit like a les paul, so I tried googling for Kay les paul copies, but I couldn't find anything that looks

remotely like it.

From what I can tell, those are normal single coil pickups, are those P90s?

Anyone?

They state that they don't do serial number checks or validate vintage guitars, just provide links to people that will do it for a fee.

I've got some knowledge about guitars, but not a great deal about vintage ones. Those pickups don't look like anything I've ever seen before.

As you like the look of it, I'd say just give it a play and if it sounds and plays nice then go for it. It might not be worth a mint, but there won't be too many other guys out there with one of these.

Thanks for the reply :)

I've been looking through old catalogs, and I found it in a '79 one. Not as old as I thought. About the strange looking pickups, apparantly it's just a style of back then, nothing special about them apart from them being a bit microphonic. Also, the bridge is non-adjustable, so I wouldn't be able to fix the intonation if anything was wrong with it. I think I'm going to save up for my dream guitar which is this one;

It's a Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe 60's edition in vintage sunburst with zebra pickups :)

It's 1100€ though, so I'll have to put off buying a pandora for a while...
