1) Commander Keen (first game I played, and its still fun)

2) Tyrian (Never found a shooter with a more detailed upgrading system)

3) Frontier: First Encounters

That's on a whim at this moment, though. I've played too many games to utterly cut them all away and end up with a few good ones, since so many of them are...

Nice to see Elite and Frontier get a few mentions here - I suppose it must reflect that there are a reasonable amount of UK older gamers here.

My choices are:
Elite
Tetris
Gran Turismo

1 - Galaxians
2 - Jedi Knight Dark Forces
3 - Tomb Raider 1

and

- Half life
- No one lives forever
- Grand Turismo 3
- GTA Vice City
- Wario ware Inc
- Sierra and Lucasarts adventures
- REZ

Toughies, but:

Elite (Acorn Electron version had most of my hours on that game, closely followed by C64 and TNK on PC!)

Half Life

Doom 1 (episode 3's secret level - non-stop carnage!)

Honourable mentions:
Raiden 2 in the arcade
Time Crisis 3 and Crisis Zone (obviously arcade)
Civilization 1 on my old 286!
Railroad Tycoon 1 on my old 286 as well!
Command And Conquer - Red Alert multiplayer
Quake 3 Arena - multiplayer
Jedi Knight 2 - multiplayer
Street Fighter 2 on Super Nes round a mate's house
Project X on Amiga
TIE Fighter on PC
FreeSpace 2 on PC

I think I'd better stop, as its getting silly now! :D

Most money made from bets related to games
1.UT 2003/2004 (I'll kill you at both)
2.Dyhard Infinty (seriously....no i'm not high....well maybe a little)
3.Various online mini-game rubbish (I made approx £20 from chopper alone)

Day of the tentacle: best and funniest "adventure" ever
MDK (Murder Death Kill): different type of first person action with loads of humour

There's only 2 games I'll name as the best ever, as they are the only ones that I have played ad nauseum yet never gotten tired of.

Dead or Alive 2 DC - I play a dozen team battles every night.

Deus Ex/Deus Ex 2 PC - The second one, while still engrossing, isn't as good as the first due to a few design decisions, but I include it as if they were one large game as it brings closure to the story of the first.

1 E L I T E. BBC. The daddy of all immersive games. I got paid to sit and play this on a BBC micro all day in the computer shop I worked in. I basically taught anyone who was interested to play it. I sold loads of BBCs and copies of elite this way.
2 Gribblys day out. c64. So much fun and so original.
3. Alternate Reality. Atari 8bit version. Awesome RPG. Way ahead of it's time.
4. Speedball 1 & 2 Amiga. Excellent future sport action.
5. Slamtilt. Amiga AGA. IMO The best pinball sim on any platform ever. All the playability of pinball dreams and pinball fantasies and plenty more besides. They really should have made the tables into real pinball machines. They are that good.
6. Phantasy Star 1. SMS. Awesome RPG. Excellent story line. The battery went in my cart years ago so I can't save to it anymore but I recently replayed it on the GP32 and it's still huge amounts of fun 15 years later.
7. Baldur's Gate. D&D on the PC. Huge immersive plot. Excellent graphics for an RPG of it's day and more depth than loch ness.

There are loads of others but I'd be here all night.

1st and 2nd is a toss-up between rRootage and Kirby's Adventure. 3rd for me is between the first two Microprose F1 GP games, Soul Calibur, VF4 Final Tuned, Super Mario Bros. 1, 2j "Lost Levels", and 3, Kirby Super Star, After Burner II, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Current favourite games:

1) Raiden II
2) Cyberbots - Fullmetal Madness
3) Mars Matrix
4) DoDonPachi
5) Phantasy Star Online

Though I must admit, nothing's been gripping me recently like Super Hang-On on the ZX Spectrum. Yes, the Spectrum.
