I am trying to unbrick my friends GP2x with the BoB. I can't seem to get the firmware update screen after writing a new image. Here is my output when I run the GP2xRecovery file. Could it be my SD card not being compatible? It is a 2GB ATP Pro Max Super High Speed SD card?

All fixed. The instructions were missing a step. You need to type

C:\tmp>instdrv.exe giveio c:\tmp\GIVEIO.SYS

before running

C:\tmp>GP2XRecovery.exe

It just took seconds. Good Luck with those who are also unbricking with the BoB.
