i was wondering if any devs has looked at the source of LordHavok´s Darkplaces engine a quakeI engine that supports q3/q2/q1 maps and models. if it would be possible to port the engine and strip out realtime lighting/shadowing/ and all that extra fluff, so people could use for example qII/qIII/nexuiz paks and get a portable "version" of named games. Or screw around with making own original games :) gp2x killer robo battles out with Samus Aran anyone? :)

I can see why someone should want this; its definately *the* quake engine at the moment. Its refreshed my interest in FPS on the PC.

Although the benefits of this on a little tiny handheld are kind of limited.

This with DoomsDay, JFBuild, Hammer of Thyrion etc along with the high resolution packs projects are changing the face of retrogaming to a 3D enviroment. If only there was a Scumm like project to bring all these together.

Even more off topic:
Anyone know how to expantion pack Dark Hour into a Pak file.
