Is linux running on both CPUs in the GP2X?

This would give the advantage of allowing the 2nd CPU to handle housekeeping chores of Linux (few tho they may be on this configuration) while a game ran on the other CPU. A small win - but it is a win.

Is this how it's running? Thanks.

At the moment Linux itself only uses the 1st core, as Linux needs a CPU that has an MMU (memory mapping unit) to work. The 2nd core doesn't have an MMU.

UClinux does not need an MMU. However, porting it would be a major effort, and wouldn't result in much of a difference.

The 2nd core is however used for video processing in the media player, I think.

Yes, but there is a hardware processor doing the actual Divx and Mpeg2 math.

The 2nd core just moves tha data around for the actual video processor (see my sig for cpu details)
