Excellent Gp2x Review At Maxconsole

Great review. I thought it was informative. I don't see how the handheld being very light is a con though.

Well, it haves some of the usal errors, but way less than most other reviews :)
definality one of the most correct ones.

"look out PSP and DS" *sigh* another retarded one-liner on a web site. When will they learn it is aimed at a completely different market than the PSP and DS.

Well, it's a nice review, but some numbers seem to be incorrect...
1. GP2X is powered with 200 MHz dual core, not 240MHz.
2. It has 64 MB of ram, not 64 mb (= 8 MB).
And they needed to have more weight on its media playing functionality. You know, the cpu has powerful media decoding capability that is also used in some PMP(Portable Media Player)s. This is a definite advantage over PSP or NDS.
Besides these some mistakes, well written review... B)

Er, maybe where they say in that review, "To consider the GP2X as a replacement or incremental upgrade to your PSP or DS would be wrong as its targeting a relative niche within the market."

:p

Yeah, they contradict their own review. "look out psp and DS" and then they say it is a different market later ;)

well, some distributors (namely gp2x.co.uk) started calling it 240 mhz, they did run tests on x hundert(?) devices and found that 240 is the lowest speed that all can do.
So calling it 240 may not be totaly correct, but seems to be a wise idear from a marketing standpoint.
Also dont forget that the gp2x cpus are realy sorted out 266mhz cpus.

But some may be of lower quality and may have failed quality assurance and it wouldn't have been rated 266 mhz so they underclocked all cpu's to 200 (excluding other reasons like battery life) so that even the ones that dont quite make the cut for 266 still work (unless it wouldn't even reach 200 then its probably thrown away or something).
